  • Hi, you could do like a chinese fish & blackbean dish served with rice or couscous. Fish & tomato soup. Cheese & onion mash, or my DS student fav dish pasta, cheese & gravey

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

I think I would look at this as a life changing challenge, see just how long you can make it last then when you need something to make a meal just buy that ingredient and see how much you can save :) then put all you save in a jar, cellotaping the lid on for such rainy days!
One day I might be more organised...........

I once lived on custard for a week when I was very young and very broke as it was the only thing I had in the cupboard and the milkman delivered daily in those days .

You have quite a bit of food to last you, and five days will fly by .Try to have a look in the library for some good cheap recipe books , or online as its possible to live quite well with a bit of lateral thinking .
Good luck, and as another poster said buy a tin of stuff every week just to build up a small store of grub for emergencies ,even if its only sardines they are very versatile in cookng and very good for you.
P.S. I have sent you a PM to your in-box re recipes

There is no sugar but jam is full of it and would be alright for sweetening .
Potato can be used in a flour like way to produce a pie crust or to make scones(savoury or sweet),pancakes or just to thicken things.
Cous cous can be used for sweet things as well as savoury.

Do you maybe have a mate who could invite you for tea one day this week, then you could repay the favour next week when you've got some cash? It's usually cheaper coking for two than one.
    Hope is not a strategy.

Only 4 days left until I have money again! :j

Knock on 5 different neighbours' doors and say "I don't suppose you have a tin of beans I could borrow do you .... it's just I don't fancy going all the way to the shops to get some right now.... I'll bring you a tin back at the weekend when I go shopping"

Any chance of borrowing a thermos from any of your mates and you could lunch on soup and have fish and chips for supper?
