Hi,
You've had some great help on the meal front. For a delicious yet really cheap meal from the potatoes and onions make boulanger potatoes.
Peel and slice 2/3 decent sized spuds into slices about the thickness of a pound coin. Chop half of one of your onions fairly small. Grease a baking dish. Layer potatoes and onions in the dish, seasoning as you go with salt and pepper. Make up a chicken stock cube a bit more concentrated than usual. Pour over the stock til it nearly reaches the top layer of spuds. Top up with a bit of milk. Dot the top with the flora and bake at 180 til the potatoes are soft and the liquid reduced. Enjoy!
It sounds dull but its really tasty and very filling.
Best of luck holding out til payday. The supermarket card is a great idea, but try and keep a bit of a store cupboard going all the time, then you always have stuff in to fall back on.
I would use the cucumber with the cheese in the brown rolls for lunches. Go to town on the cucumber, and sprinkle it with salt. Butter the buns. That way you'll need less of the cheese.
I would make up a handful or two of the couscous to make a salad. Heat some of the sunflower oil in a saucepan, add a chopped red onion and let it soften. Then add a good teaspoon of the fajita spice. Don't allow the spices to burn! Then add a good two handfuls of couscous and stir in the spiced oil. Pour over chicken stock made up quite concentrated and turn off the heat. Put a lid on the pan and leave it for 10 mins. Fluff the couscous with a fork and add chopped cucumber. Spicey couscous for lunch or snacks.

tibbles unless you can incorporate your sunflower oil and your jar of peanut butter in then I'd be a little concerned you're going to be too light on calories over 5 days. This is especially true if you are tall, athletic, male and active (or any of those
).
Please consider, for example, stirring some of your oil through for example your flavoured cous cous meals.
All the best and please do keep us posted.

not going to even try and beat the great ideas so far, but just as a thought, do you have any foreign cash stuffed in a draw?
My son found just over 3 euros earlier this year and after a bit of grovelling the bank changed it for him for free.
Or MrS or MrT vouchers?0 -

should be quite doable. use the seasonings ie pepper stock cubes etc to change the flavour of the rice pasta potatoes, make soup, eat the fruit and veg. and remember its only 5 days and pay day is soon.:) forgot to add, you could try frying the bread in the sunflower oil for extra calories."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
You have a lot of onions and some chicken stock, an onion soup is easy to make. A potaoe bake using sliced onions, sliced potaoes a little stock mixed with ketchup all layered and baked till the spuds are tender.

Those sound lovely! I might go and make that couscous now so I can bring it for lunch tomorrow. I've got tons of ideas for meals now, this week isn't going to be too bad after all
Katholicos - I never thought of fish and chips! I have those breadcrumbs too to coat the fish. That does seem a bit too good to be true for a maakeshift dinner
Weezl I'm a 5'8 female and not particularly active, I might have peanut butter on toast a couple of days for breakfast to try and get some extra cals in though
I will keep you all posted about how the week goes!

Could even really go to town and fry some onion rings to serve with this especially if you coat them in the crumbs..
Mashed potatoes - add a few fried onions or boil potatoes, fry onions and then shape into patties and grill/fry
Best of luck hunny xxGC 2011

Might be worth you putting say one tin a week in you store cupboard when things are a bit more flush. A tin of tuna or corned beef, some cheap soups or canned ham can stretch simple ingredients into rather good meals.
Next time you have a spare quid or somethings on special offer, easy way to establish a small storecupboard.0
