Best alternative to HTC desire HD?

hi been waiting what seems like an age
been promised end of last week, still no joy

BTW this is VF upgrades messing me about now

so is there anything i should consider instead of the Desire HD?

    Considering the handset has only just launched, I would imagine a lot of networks only offering it to new customers before upgraders, have you considered getting a sim free example with a sim only deal?
