Sainsbury's Click and Collect - Vent

So, you've got to do all that in a very short space of time, as well as have a copy of the email, and how on earth would you copy the bank card? Sorry, but if someone was going to go to that much trouble, they'd be better off putting their skills to something worth while, and not for just a few games.
My point is the ease of which these things that the Op had could be made quite easily. if someone was wanting to defraud you they could if they thought they could get away with using just paper forms of ID.
Do a ton of shopping with a cloned card nip down there and walk away with a couple of tellys a few games maybe a PS3 or such like. Which is why they ask for A passport or Driving license - much harder to forge.one of the famous 50 -
I now know that it is in the terms and conditions but assumed (wrongly) that all stores would be much of a muchness in their procedures. I was wrong.
But my vent still stands - surely common sense prevails over a transaction worth £23.48 when I had lots of ID, plus the confirmation email? Then the farce continued when I was asked to confirm details that were in the email, which I had on my phone, which I'd already shown to the customer assistant?
And finally, what about people who don't drive, who have no passport? Surely there are lots of people like that?Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

Acceptable photographic ID was listed as beeing needed so how can you have something to vent about, its a perfectly reasonable request to ask for photographic ID. You wouldnt be too happy if someone else had walked off with your goods would you, the photo ID was needed to prove who you were
i understand it being a pain but i dont think sainsburys will change the policy just because person complained but give it a try, it is a bit weird as i didnt have to show my ID whgen i picked up a pc monitor from a tesco store but was the id needed as it was games with an 18 rating(just a guess)
Hi DFC - no the games were Peppa pig jigsaws, the boardgame frustration and another game for a baby. I just feel it is a bit silly really.
And in answer to another person's point (sorry I dont know how to multiquote!) if someone had gone into the store collecting my order and the staff told me they had seen the confirmation email and the bank card then I would presume thats as good as it gets. If someone has those two things in their possession then its just bad luck I guess. I would never expect to show a photo ID for such a small order.Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

Again i sympathise but they are only trying to protect themselves and the consumer as someone would end up out of pocket. If some one did not have a passport or driving license then i guess they would be a bit stuck and have to go down the home delivery route or go to the store to purchase.one of the famous 50

have you asked sainsburys CS why ID was neededNo, it's part of the T&C you agree to when using Click and Collect.
I used the service a few weeks ago, turned up with my email printed as requested by the service with my driving licence as I agreed to during the order process and was promptly handed my goods.
Hardest part of the process was finding the correct desk.
like i said tesco didnt want id when i picked up a monitor so just find it weird that would ask for ID for using a similar service, well as it part of the t&c's should people not read them0 -

That's BS, DC but then again you would say that seeing as though you work for them.

People who accuse someone giving their opinion on a public forum as an employee, just because it doesn't fit their agenda or what they want to hear should not bother posting. In this case what was said by quoted poster was very troll-like.Best Regards

Click and collect - forget it!!! Ordered and paid for 2 items to pick up after 4 pm the next day from city centre store. Left work early. One had been delivered - other hadn't - had to wait 20 minutes while the staff tried to find the parcel that had been delivered but was told to ring customer services.
Rang customer services and asked for second item to be delivered to home address as courier had obviously failed in task. Toojk 25 minutes of constant repetitive discussion to get Sainsbury to see that I ntered a contract with them wherein I paid and ordered goods and they should have upheld their obligation to deliver on time.
Finall y they agreed to home delivery - but guess what... it never arrived!
Spoke to customer services and was told that it would be delivered to home address in next 24 hours. Oh and a £10 gift voucher would be sent. Customer service - my ar*e !!0
