    Hi Waugh,

That's brilliant. Many thanks. Thanks also for the various tip-offs. We should pick up the first of these in relatively short order. Not to tip off my update too much but house buying is a fairly tortuous process. If you want to put a spanner in any works, introduce agents, lawyers, intermediaries and workmen into the picture. I don't think there's a project on earth that would survive that level of procrastination, interference, second guessing, snail-mailing and general mincing about.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Hiya ATT,

Had a grand pair, thank'ee. a bit of extreme overindulging hasn't gone unnoticed though!

Funny you should mention it. We've had a brief chat about when, not if, one of us gives up the game and concentrates on our efforts full-time. At the moment, it's likely to be me and it's likely to be not a million miles away. Once we start getting hit with massive tax bills, it may actually be financially beneficial to give up full-time work. That doesn't seem to make sense in my wee head quite yet but, as always, the numbers stack up. 18-24 months tops is the best estimate for when I shuffle out of employment.

Had a look at both sites and they're grand. I'm on tax tips number 2 and the advice, whilst nothing massively new, is excellent. Number 3 wil be very interesting as I'm all about the tax avoidance now!

    Cheers,

    Billy

Hi Billy, hope everthing is ok too

Gally, my money is on him having bought another 10 houses, a nursing home and a run down hotel and not being sure how to tell us :rotfl:

    Hi Gally,

You get a 4/10. A run-down hotel with a view to recreating a Scottish sitcom loosely based on Psycho isn't outwith the question though. I honestly think the erstwhile Mr Bates may have had a less mental mother than me mind!

    Cheers,

    Billy
Hi Billy, Hope you are too busy with your BTL ventures to post here. We are all eagerly waiting for your enthusiastic posts. Take care.

    Hi US,

That's a straightforward 9/10. Work, BTL, Home Improvements, Business Planning, many and varied appointments, a wee bit of Consultancy and the continuation of chapter 2 of the book have kept me away. I'm back in the game now though.

    Cheers,

    Billy

Perhaps the atrocious weather hit them and they're still without power? Waughc is fairly close, maybe they know something?

Hope you and Moyra are ok Billy.

    All the best,
    Spigs

    Hi Spigs,

When hurricane bawbag first hit, I was down in that England wondering what all the fuss was about with a wee bit of wind and having a good go at the wimpish people the Scottish had clearly become whilst I wasn't paying attention. Having experienced bawbag II, I'm still relatively unimpressed with all the massive drama people made of it. We suffered the unpleasantness of two of our three wheelybins falling down and the welcome mat on the front step blowing round the corner.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    He's back!

Welcome back Billy, I think a few of us were actually starting to get worried about you :p

    Damn multiquote thingy,

I knew I'd missed one. Apologies Gally. That's another straightforward 10/10. There's always a massive list to be gotten at. Moyra is at her most efficient when she's telling other people what to do and, unfortunately, it doesn't come close to ending when she leaves the classroom!

    Cheers,

    Welcome back Wynnvegas,
Thought you had gone AWOL during the holidays.
Sounds like the Btl process is taking it's toll on you, it does get easier the more you buy lol. You will learn the process better as time goes by and not let things get to you. It's a lot to take in all at once. We bought 4 btl within a short period of time and that was a very stressful year.
We got out of the storm lightly have a fence down on one of our rentals. Found something out about this, fence blown down during the strong winds between our rental and council property, emailed council to say we would go half stuff on fence, they emailed us back to say it was between us and their tenant to fix the fence, it was nothing to do with the council. How is a woman on her own with 3 small children supposed to be able to pay for a fence. So we will replace the fence wouldn't even think of asking the woman to pay for the fence.
Hope to find out some more info on that house tomorrow, will keep you updated.
Schools all back tomorrow, so back to normal hopefully
    Take care

I've just realised your 13 days younger than me!! I always assumed you were older. You are far to organised and sorted too early on...whats that?? Me? Jealous??? Erm....YES!

    Hi Waugh,

Thanks for the concern. We're perfectly grand and taking the delays in our stride. All that will happen is that our plans will get knocked back a wee bit and the plan, as was, will kick off as soon as the first transfer date is locked down. At the moment, we've agreed 4 and have a fifth to put an offer in on which we think will be accepted. It'll happen when it happens and, in the meantime, we'll continue to try and up the offset as much as possible. Looks like West Lothian Council won't be quite the ally that I was hoping!!

Thanks again for your advice and guidance. I owe you big time!

Hope things start relaxing a wee bit with the schools starting back.

    Cheers,

    Billy
