Cleaning glass ceramic hob

Don't get too concerned about scratching a ceramic hob.
I've been using metal scourer for years
It works - honestly!
But I will try a microfibre cloth - thanks0 -
Try rubbing woodburner glass with a damp cloth (old flannel is best!) dipped in the wood ash. It's free and it works brilliantly.0

Can anyone help me? The scratch on my ceramic hob is not big but it is deeper than just surface marking. I may have done it accidentally with my ring. Is there any way of repairing it and will it affect the operation of the hob? The scratch is actually on the ring.0

Hi I have managed to melt some plastic onto my glass ceramic hob. I need to clean it off dont know the best method. The instructions book says use a scraper, but what kind of scraper can be used. I'm nervous of scratching the surface, as I live in a rented flat.
Thank you0 -

You'll be able to get one from any hardware shop - or even Poundland!
The blade is very sharp and could scratch if you don't keep it level.
But it's very easy to use and doesn't tilt in normal use.0 -
Hi All,
This is my first time in the OS boards so be nice
Moved into our house last year and got a new kitchen fitted. We got one of the smart looking glass top hobs. Only problem is theres loads of ring marks on them now and i've also been a bit slack in cleaning it and some food has burnt on. What is the best thing for cleaning this?
I saw a 'scraper' on Kleeneze but its a razor blade  Surely I wouldnt want to put that on top of my glass hob would I?
Any advice welcomeThis is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Hi gaz-jones, I clean mine with a scraper that came with the cooker. It lifts the burnt on stuff and doesn't scratch. Just take it gently. You can also buy some cleanser called Hobbrite (I think), it comes in an orange bottle. It's pretty good but hot soapy water and the scrapper are just fine. It's up to me now and nobody else.0

I've been cleaning mine with Bar-Keeper's Friend -powder that you rub on with a damp cloth, rinse off, works a treat!0

Thanks very much for the replies
4moneysaver, the scraper you got given with the hob, does it have a blade on or just a plastic scraper? I have heard of that 'hobbrite' before so think I might give that a go.
Ballymackeonan, Can you recommend anywhere to get 'bar keepers friend' from? This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0
