What about a pamper day at a local beauty salon or if thats too expensive - buy a voucher from the salon and she can choose what treatments she would like. Always worked for me!:j0

Just thought I'd throw in my tuppence worth. Totally agree with lady suggesting a Kindle. For my birthday DH bought me one. I'm late thirties and hubby says I'm difficult to buy for. I love it!0

Would prefer something that didn't involve me getting off my a$$ or if it did, then perhaps a hotel break for the TWO of us!

It's really difficult because we women can be quite naughty really.
If my husband bought me a gift that involved a haircut/makeover type thing, I'd be pretty !!!!ed off to be honest! Like Hmpf do I need it kinda thing. In truth yes I probably do, but the one you love telling you you do can be a bit hurtful on your birthday! (I am difficult!!!!)
I LOVE the idea of the picnic. Maybe a nice day out somewhere lovely. dependant on where you are and when the birthday is, but one year I was taken into london for my birthday. We had a lovely morning doing the sights, then we headed to the embankment where we had lunch on one of the boats on the embankment, then an afternoon of shopping with the evening topped off with a show. It was fantastic. Doesn't have to be expensive - as long as it shows there was care and consideration put into the planning of it.
(I am a late 30s lady by the way!):xmastree:0 -

in response to what was said about being offended what about getting two passes for a spa day
you could go together so she's not offended because you're getting a pass for both of you, or take a friend for a girly day out?0 -
Handbag?
I'm just turned 40 and I'd like any of the above things suggested!0 -
I've just posted this for someone else but I thought it might be an idea for you too. In my opinion a change of scenery is the best present you can get... away from the cleaning, ironing, washing up, etc
I've stayed at Village Hotels twice this year for short breaks and both time have been excellent (stayed at Manchester Ashton & Swansea).
They have a choice of restaurant food or bar food, a Starbucks, Swimming Pool, Gym and Spa type area & Free Wi-Fi.
Here's their locations:

and here's couple of their special deals

If you've got kids then you might be interested in their family deals... bear in mind that the beds for kids in some places are only 'Z' beds. Quite often they do deals where kids stay & eat free with 2 adults0
