I wanna - wife's birthday present

Options
No idea what to buy - she doesn't want jewellery, DVD boxset did not go down well last year, no experience type gift, champagne is still in fridge from last year undrunk - so I'm pretty much stuffed.

Any ideas?!

  • I know you said no experience type thing but is she into psychic stuff or anything? You could take her on a ghost hunt or something - you can find lots on the internet. Or you could buy her some crystals and a book explaining their properties.

Have you tried asking her what kind of things she likes or listening to little hints she may drop?

I would rather be asked for ideas than receive something I may not use.
If she could give you half a dozen ideas then you have something to pick from and it is still a surprise for her. :)

Listening? Little hints? Oh yes and that got me nowhere.

She mentioned she liked a piece of jewellery, i bought it and got the reply that it was too expensive, she rarely wears jewellery and we could have used the money for something better. She mentioned she would love to see all the episodes of Friends - bought her the boxset and she looked really upset that i got her some DVDs!

And, no, she isn't ungrateful - she is just difficult to buy for!

Like the idea of a magazine subscription though - any good mags for a late 30 something female? And any offers?!

Would prefer something that didn't involve me getting off my a$$ or if it did, then perhaps a hotel break for the TWO of us!

Perfume? Cosmetics? depends what sort of late 30's lady she is to be honest. Some are reading Cosmo and some Good Housekeeping ;) I would like a wool duvet and a cashmere jumper. I am earlyish 30's :)
  • Same problem mate, i've got a week to sort something big.

I'll like to get her a 50" telly but i'm not sure she'll apprcieate is at much as me!
  • I am pushing 30. I have set myself up for my 30th birthday next week with the knowledge that my husband doesn't do well for Birthdays / Xmas - it's usually stuff he likes, and I sort of like, if you know what I mean. Like a Family Guy DVD Boxset. Or t-shirts that I wouldn't buy for myself, bu I'll wear under a jumper.

The stuff I'd really like is so expensive, out of the price range, and just so selfish for me to ask for it.
This year I said "Nintendo DSI XL in Green or Blue", or some size 6 vans trainers.
It's got to be something I'll like, a toy or something I can play with. Saying that, last year he got me a DS game I wanted but didn't know had been released!

I always give him really cool present I know he will love, and I'm bang on the mark.

One of the best gifts my hubby got me was a picnic!!! He packed a hamper full of gorgeous, naughty little treats from M&S, a blanket, and a flask of luxury hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows - we had a lovely lunch by the river (wrapped up warm as it was bloody cold!!!)... so much fun :)

Or what about a voucher for a massage? Always goes down a treat for me!
