Foreign Currency Checker?

Is there an online checker or website that shows the foreign currency exchange rates at all the banks and exchange places, rather than me having to trawl around each bank/shop tyting to find the best deal?
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Not sure any such search is worthwhile at the present.
The Post Office and Marks&Spencers are head and shoulders above banks and so two enquiries can tell you which is the best for you at any particular time0 -

I have to disagree with nanahawk, Travelex have always beaten any bank or Post Office and M&S when I have used them and they are convenient as you can collect your funds at the airport.

If you are able to change your funds in London, then try the following, they are the best to my knowledge (especially for Euros and US Dollars)

Thanks for the Travelex link.
You`re absolutely right about a better rate 1.4129€ to the £ as against 1.3828€ at the post office today.0 -
Depends how much you cash in. My local lunn Poly have beaten travelex on several occasions. You go in ask the rate-they tell you-you feign shock followed by you are kidding- they ask you what youve been quoted -you add on a bit etc etc. Always start by kidding on you want to cash in HALF of what you really want. That way you can use the other half as leverage to get the rate up.
Even better ,if traveling with others, pool your money for an even better rate.0 -
I have used LloydsTSB in the past (was a better rate than the post office and foreign exchanges that I tried at the time) although there is an indication that it is linked with American Express.
See: http://www.lloydstsb.com/travel_main_page.asp
Be interested on which you find to be the best as I have to get some Euros soon.Show me the money!0 -
LTSB rate today is 1.3877€
Placed an order with Travelex at 1.4129€
Can`t be beaten.
Lunn Poly is now called (surprise, surprise)Thomson Holidays and who want`s to haggle with them for a rate,it`s hard enough getting a bargain holiday unless you believe there 50% off nonsense.0 -
Open a Nationwide Flexaccount solely for foreign currency. Drawing €s a couple of days ago from a €urzone cash machine you'd have got €1.45+ per pound with no transaction fees. Makes the 1.38-1.42 range look usurous?0

Taken your advice and just applied online for a flexi account.
Would appreciate any other tips on the working of the account.
I assume when using abroad the account needs to be in credit and there are no charges at all .
Thanks in advance.0 -
How does it the flexaccount stand up on US rates?SB's xx0
