credit check problems via carphonewarehouse
Hi All
I've just moved into a rented flat as I have a new job in a new town. I tried to get a contract phone @ carphonewarehouse but the credit check was rejected by 3 mobile. Long story short - when contacted direct the credit check dept. at 3 mobile said "yes"; then carphonewarehouse got rejected a few more times and now it's not going through because of too many rejects.
Is there any way I can bypass or reset this credit check thing and get a contract phone? I have contacted experian and am waiting for the report to come through - I assumed my credit rating would be OK as I've managed to get credit cards and mortgages and all that jazz with no problems (and I don't think I've ever missed a payment). Right now I have no landline, and the PAYG charges are mounting up!
Yours,
Hannah
(The long story, for those who can be bothered to read it: The nice lass in the shop tried 4 times, then sent me away to contact the credit checking people at 3. Which I did. They said I was OK and that they'd put me through (something to do with having been at the address for less than a month and maybe the previous tenants being dodgy?). Back to carphonewarehouse, 3 reject again. The lass phoned up 3, put it through with the 3 lot at the other end of the phone, got accepted. She hung up, pressed "next", went from accept to decline. She phones again, gets a different monkey, tries again, rejected again. The 3 lot say come back on monday. So this morning, I try again, and get rejected because there were seven attempts which means auto reject and the different guy at 3 says I can't try again for three months. )

Unlikely, unless Three have someone internally who can override this requirement based on what has happened.(The long story, for those who can be bothered to read it: The nice lass in the shop tried 4 times, then sent me away to contact the credit checking people at 3.
I'm not sure why they continued to keep repeating the credit check after having failed. Once more ok, but four times? Maybe they were desperate for deals that day. Again, you may be able to explain to Three that CPW submitted the request several times, but if no one can manually overcome the '7 attempts' rule.0 -
Yep, you have too many searches on your file now, after three months try again and you should be fine as long as you are on the voter roll."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

So is there no way to clear any of the searches, given that they're all the fault of carphonewarehouse and/or 3 mobile?0

You could ask the three major CRAs to remove the duplicate search entries but they'll only do this with the permission of the searcher.
If you gave authorisation for all the searches to be made, which it reads like you did, you have no chance of getting them removed.
Searches have little impact after three months, less after six months and the drop off in twelve months."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -

Ah. Right. There's a sense in which I gave permission, but there's a sense in which I assumed the nice lass in carphone!!!!!house knew what she was doing. Ouch.0 -

Yes, 'nice' wouldn't be the word I'd user to describe her behaviour.
A lesson learned I think. If you're being credit checked for a contract or finance in store, only authorise it to happen once (twice at a push). If it fails, do some investigation with CRA's before attempting again.0
