Internet Explorer/ BT Broadband problem

This is driving me nuts!
Have been with BT Broadband for a few years with no probs. A few weeks ago I rang them for advice about the best deal they could offer, having seen some of their adverts offering reduced prices with loads of freebies.
They advised me to switch to Option 3, with a free Home Hub for wireless connection etc. (A few days later they told me they'd analysed my usgae and said Option 2 would be ideal for my needs - £4 less. Didn't tell me that on the phone). Anyway, I'd agreed to the new deal, so I installed it, which required inputting a new Email address and password.
The problem is that, as soon as I try to log-on to access my email, Internet Explorer totally freezes. This only happens with this page. Any other site works fine. So I can't access my email or register my new account, even though I can get online with new new Home Hub. I can't register for the new Broadband talk (free evening and weekend calls), which comes free with the package.
I rang their Support line (0800 number), and spoke to 3 different guys who tried various things (one got me to go to Tools > Internet Options > Content > Clear Forms and Passwords and Clear SSL state. I queried this as all my log-ons are stored. He assured me they'd not be lost, but when I logged on the next time to my favourite sites, including my bank, the stored details had been wiped. I went ballistic, but to no avail. Anyway, that's not the issue here).
One took over my PC by remote assistance and finally accepted that I was telling the truth: BT's log-on page is the ONLY one that won't load. He installed IE7, which still won't allow the page to load.
He installed Firefox, which does allow me to log-on and get to my email, but BT's software page won't support Firefox, so i can't download the software needed to use all the Home Hub functions.
To be honest, though he was helpful I was getting frustrated at his lack of expertise, and I reckon the expertise on this site can out-do all that BT has to offer.
What could be the cause of this IE problem? EVERY other site I visit loads perfectly, but IE won't let me log-on to BT. What else can I try?

http://edit.europe.yahoo.com/config/login?.intl=uk&.partner=bt-1&.done=http%3a//bt.yahoo.com/%3f
That's what appears in the address bar when you enter https://www.bt.yahoo.com and hit return in both IE and Firefox0 -

No - I can't even access the page to download anything, including Norton. I removed my McAfee when I installed the BT hub because it said that Norton was included and it would conflict. It's a free download with Option 3, but I can't access it.
Have tried powering off the Hub, but the problem recurs.0 -
Any suggestions what could be causing this and how I can fix it?0
