  • Hi guys,

I got onto the 9:15 from paddington and our train was held at bristol for hours, My ticket was actually reserved for 8:15 though, Id like to know if anyone was on the 8:15 and if this was delayed for along while aswell. Am im not sure I can clain for the 9:15 service with my ticket.
I actaully missed the 8:15 due to first's service to kings cross from kings lynn also being cancelled!

I left home at 16:30 and got to my destination at 3:15, not best pleased!

I don't see any reason not to claim - it's the complete journey that's relevant

It prpbably makes no difference, but was your ticket a cheap advance single or a normal off peak one?

We were on the 19.15. We were at Bristol Parkway until midnight before we gave up. The screen was showing that the 20.15 was cancelled. I am not sure where they gave up on that service as I am not aware of there being more than one train waiting for hours at Bristol- that said I may just have been unobservant. What time did you arrive at Parkway? How did you get to your destination? and what was your final destination? I suspect that some of the services may just have been combined though I have no idea. The next day someone at Bristol Parkway told my sister that our train finally arrived at Swansea at 4.15am. That would have just ruined our weekend.

Were you then delayed on the rail replacement services on the return. In Newport it would appear that no-one could organise a p... in a brewery, it took over 45 minutes for us to get on the bus and then we had to wait 50 minutes for a train to arrive at Severn Tunnel Junction as they didn't hold our connecting train. We did not have a good weekend with the trains. At least they declassified first class but I think if they hadn't there might have been a riot.

Thank you Johnnyroper- I thought Network Rail could be held accountable to FGW for failing to protect their property.

All we have to do is wait for the hotel to send the receipt- we did a fast checkout and then we will be writing a long letter claiming everything. I really don't think it would be fair for a 65 year old host to stay up indefinitely to collect us
