If you bought it online you are entitled to a full refund as long as its returned in 7 working days from delivery and you tell them you are cancelling the order under the DSR

Out of those times its down to there own goodwill policy

Actually it is as long as you inform them within 7 working days starting the day after the day it is delivered.

its because you want to return it instore. if you post it back, as per the mail order requirements, you will get your refund

This should not make a difference - the place of purchase is what is relevant here, and the OP's understanding is correct.

  • i got bought two jumpers as a present but were to big i took mine to the workington branch where the identical jumpers where on the shelves and they refused to exchange them because they were out of season. its like a jumper past its sell by date. they would the exact jumpers on the shelf only a different wash tag inside. i'll never buy there again.

So they weren't the "exact same jumpers", were they?

They had a different wash tag inside.

And because you say that, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't the same wool/material as the ones you were given as a gift.
  • I work within Debenhams and the policy is that any item brought in store that is reduced by 50% or more is exchange only, but if the item is brought online (no matter what the discount is) a refund can be given. Sometimes some of the newer workers get confused by this and will say that its an exchange only. Tell them you want to speak to a supervisor if you have any problems!

Eh OP is nearly a year old (2010). Although i can see your confusion due to a member reviving old debenham threads just to berate them even though they've done nothing wrong against consumer rights.

Yet another case of "consumer wants" i'm afraid.
