The “arrgggh it’s nearly Xmas” November NSD challenge

*rushes in from the shops, plonks herself down on the sofa in a state of exhuastion before thinking about crawling as far as the kitchen to put the kettle on*
Whew! deff not a NSD for me today but I knew it wouldn't be due to a hair appt, so took the oppertunity to get some Xmas bits n bobs. I feel like I have been everywhere! Went to get the brown flannels from Primark for a Rudolph present (thanks for the idea littlepinkstars44), but I didn't want 4, so thought I could get one in Mr A as I was stopping there on my way home....oh how wrong I was so now, down to my own fault I STILL don't have the flannel I wanted ) Did stop in a Mr T and pick up some beans (buy 1 get 2 free), then down to Mr A via M*talan (flannel hunt) then after just about surviving that, down to another retail centre to the craft store - except they didnt' have half of what I wanted to rudolph and it was all in packs with far more than what I needed. So, after more traffic battling I drove to Mr W in my home town to get some of the ingredients for my winter chutney (plan to make that tomorrow), and popped into the little sewing shop in town too - who DID have pipecleaners in singles, some really cut ribbon with little reindeers on to tie him up with, and, sold pom poms singually (although they were all out of red sparkly ones today) Oh, and stopped at the health food shop to get apricots too - far cheaper than elsewhere.
...and that's just the abridged version of my mad afternoon - totally pooped but think I am getting there now and have updated my list of 'things I need to do' so I am feeling clamer and more organised at least.
Couldn't believe just how many people were out shopping today - even for a Sat - you honestly would have thought it was the first week of Dec instead of Nov.
On the subject of fireworks - none for us as yet (Skippy gone out atm so she's deff not a kitty that is bothered by them :rotfl:) but do need to try and get some sparklers at least for the street gathering tomorrow. OMG - another NSD down the pan then - pants!!
Oh dear, maybe i shouldn't have shown you them in the first place.
Are you just making the one reindeer? Have you got everything you need now?
I know what you mean about places being busy, I work in a supermarket, and it was totally crazy in there this morning!!
EDIT: We had fireworks going off like crazy around here last night, there was a good few displays going on locally in parks, but also people just setting them off in the back gardens. There are a few going off tonight as well, no where near as many as last night though.0 -
Today was a spend day - although for a while it looked like it might not be
Got to work just before 7am to find no-one setting up the canteen (this is where they have the staff sales area, and where we have to pay), so thought things must run slightly different in terms of times at the weekend.
By 9am the word was going around that we had no canteen service - the lass who was supposed to be running it having phoned in sick !!
Then the lady I was working alongside went on her break around 9:15, and came back at 9:30 to say it was just being opened up - they'd pulled someone in on extra hours, which are currently banned (including holiday/sick leave cover) apart from exceptional circumstances.
Took my break about 9:45, and first port of call (after grabbing my small back-pack and purse from my locker) was the canteen..... where I managed to get all 11 jars of pasta sauce for the princely sum of £1.10 (they're 350g jars of D0lmi0 'Taste of', but older style labels - 10 are Tuscany and 1 is Sorrento - which are showing on Mr T's website at £1.77 each or 2 for £3. Forgot to check normal price at work, but really pleased with the saving even against the Mr T offer of £1.50/jar and will record that 'original price' in my s/sheet :T)
Had a peek at chilled reductions as I was leaving work just after 4pm (as it was already a spend day) and dithered over a few bits, but decided they were still a bit pricey for me (only at 50% off).
So I dived home, then straight back out with the dog in an attempt to get home before fireworks started - meant a shorter walk than we've been doing, so I opted for one that took me back past work at about the time the next round of chilled reductions would be done..... and nipped in again. Discovered that everything I'd dithered over at 4:10pm was still there at 5:30pm and the lass had just started the markdowns, so it had been well worth taking the risk
Managed to pick up Chilli Prawn Linguine (75p instead of £3) for tea tonight as I didn't feel like cooking from scratch - and have decided I still don't like prawns (haven't tried them in around 30 years).
Also picked up a 'The Best' Chicken Caesar Pasta dish for lunch tomorrow (45p instead of £1.49), a Macaroni Cheese (a value one that cost me 19p instead of 74p, so not worth making from scratch) that I'll do with one of my Whoopsied burgers for tea tomorrow, a large pot of organic Apricot yoghurt ([strike]£1.35[/strike] 39p), a pack of 2 individual tubs of spotted d!ck and custard ([strike]£1.50[/strike] 35p), and a large tub of clotted cream as I was already planning on making scones tomorrow (49p instead of £1.97 - was 99p when I left work, and the main thing I went back for)
Total cost of tonights haul (after I put change and staff discount into my sealed pot) was £2.70Cheryl0 -
Gah, I'm still stuck on spending days
Tomorrow I'm going to sit down and plan out some quick & easy lunches to take with me to work so I'm not tempted by the sandwiches and bottles of juice, doing overtime next week so I'll be working mon-sat so if I can plan properly I should start having some nsds finallyThe debtWILLbegone - taking it 1% at a time

Lol! no problem at all - I am sure it will be well worth it when I've made it - just hope it looks half as good as yoursYes, just the one reindeer for me - there's only really one person on my xmas list it's going to be suitable for, which is a shame as they are cute
I'm just a pom pom and a flannel short. Will get the flannel(s) at the same time I go to get the bits from Lush as that kinda makes sense for me to do (annoyingly we have no Pr*mark in the town where I live so it always requires a trip to one of the two stores nearby so I try and tie that in with other errands). The local sewing shop said they have the pom poms on back order so I'll just keep checking during the week - there's still plenty of time (famous last words :rotfl:)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
