Don't eat rabbit myself but I'd much rather people ate what they shot rather then shooting for fun and leaving dead bunnies (and whatever else they find) like the d**** around my street at the moment..
My Dalmatian is forever picking up dead rabbits!
I wouldn't mind trying game birds although stories of the pellet breaking peoples teeth puts me off..Starting my DMP Journey.0 -
OK - so it was going cheap (ish) in the shop and I thought why not give it a try?
Problem is there are 5 in our house (2 adults 3 chldren) and no way can I stretch it out for 5 of us
I was thinking of cooking it up for lunches at work (have a microwave available) and take it in with some rice etc
What do you suggest I do with it?

Hi Upsy - Im sure there is some way of stretching it?! Heaps of suggestions here - rabbit what to do with it. hope that helps.
The first two recipes - casserole and curry feed 4, so with some aded veg 5 shouldn't be a problem!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

If you decide to go with the curry option, I would add in some potatoes, or lentils if you prefer (and still serve with rice as the "main" side dish) - to my mind, it is no different to ordering a takeaway curry and having bombay potatoes or a dhal dish as a side dish - which is perfectly acceptable to most people!
Thinking about it, I would add a load of veg to the casserole option as well (I tend to add a lot of veggies to most of my dishes - a "hangover" from being a Weightwatcher for a long time- most veggies are "0 points"! - but, however you look at it, they are healthy, and cheap as a "filler"), and serve with potatoes...
Rabbit is also yummy in a creamy/mustard sauce...(and I would add the extra pulses/veggies here too, but I am beginning to repeat myself so I'm going to shut up now...!!).

Thanks for your replies - I'll dig it out of the freezer tomorrow and marinade it tomorrow evening ready to curry up on Wednesday for dinner - I could also chuck in a handful of oats to stretch it a bit further :T (thanks Flying Fresian)
Kids may or may not eat it - anything they leave on their plates I just put in a plastic tub and take into work the next day for lunch - let's face it - they haven't got any lurgis that I haven't got - have they?
Again many thanks
