If you are not happy with a diagnosis you have a right to a second opinion. If it nerves then you may be hyperventilating, try holding your breath and see if that stops the trembling.

See what the physio says...they are often better than your average GP at looking at this sort of thing. I had tennis elbow which the GP wanted to just go staright for steroid injection with. the physio realised it was due to back and neck issues, sorted out my posture, the way I use my PC, gave me strengthening exercises and got me sorted. I've had back pain for years due to an injury and at times I have pain in my leg - what you're suffering with doesn't seem at all odd to me, but I won't go into more here as it's not the place for medical advise. See the physio, if you're still bothered go back and ask to see a different doctor. But do bear in mind back injuries cause a lot of deferred problems and can take a while to settle down0

If the OP's GP is anything like mine, they will probably get higher quality advice from a bunch of internet strangers than they will from the GP.
Get a referral to a physio, chiro or similar and get it done soon before you end up with permanent back pain like I have.
The leg symptoms sound a bit like sciatica to me, hopefully just caused by the swelling rather than anything more severe.0
