I was in an accident just over a week ago where a lady of 72 (yes 72) came head on into my lane. I tried to swerve onto left lane however did not quite make it. She hit the side of my car doing approx 70 mph. I felt fine just shaken until a few hours later, then suffered dizziness, headache neck and back pain, and terrible pins and needles. I attended the hospital who said it was whiplash since then i have had more problems, more back pain, and the pins and needles became worse, and now my right leg trembles really bad when i stand on it as if fitting I went back to the local hospital who took me off on a body board, head brace in an ambulance (scared or what) The doctor said no spinal injury thank god, but i dont understand why my leg is doing this. I went back to doctors who said you may be anxious, i thought what just when i walk it is fine when sitting. Also how long will i be in pain. My insurance are sending me for physio but doctor said i need to wait until sweeling from neck spasms have gone down.??????????? Help

It'll probably be swelling which is causing pressure on the nerves. What advice are you looking for? If yo want medical advice, it's probably best to ask your doctor, not a bunch of internet strangers.

I get the impression the OP thinks it's strange for a 72 year old to be on the road.... ;)

I'd be more worried about the several thousand 90 somthing year olds personally, lol.

Was worried about why my leg is shaking so much as i walk, ive been to the doctors he just said i was anxious, which i wasn't. That was no help at all. Thats what i thought it could be due to the nerves but just wanted to be sure, its as if my leg is having a fit but only when pressure is on it.
    Thank you

70mph in a 30mph zone maybe, but since we're talking lanes, it seems a faster road?

It is only 3 lanes 2 going one way and 1 the other to help traffic congestion, as its a busy road
  • Was this your GP or at the hospital? If GP ask for a referral if at the hospital ask to see your consultant again. If you are not happy with a diagnosis you have a right to a second opinion. If it nerves then you may be hyperventilating, try holding your breath and see if that stops the trembling.

See what the physio says...they are often better than your average GP at looking at this sort of thing. I had tennis elbow which the GP wanted to just go staright for steroid injection with. the physio realised it was due to back and neck issues, sorted out my posture, the way I use my PC, gave me strengthening exercises and got me sorted. I've had back pain for years due to an injury and at times I have pain in my leg - what you're suffering with doesn't seem at all odd to me, but I won't go into more here as it's not the place for medical advise. See the physio, if you're still bothered go back and ask to see a different doctor. But do bear in mind back injuries cause a lot of deferred problems and can take a while to settle down
