orange wont unlock my phone

I have a vodafone contract which doesnt run out for another year.

I recently bought an iphone 3gs second hand from a friends friend. I was told it was unlocked and would be able to use my sim card. It isnt :mad: its locked to orange and they wont give me the unlock code because im not the original owner. They checked to see if it was blacklisted...stolen or whatever and it isnt but they wont entertain me.

My friend cant get hold of the original owner.

Yes i can take it to get unlocked at these unlock places but ive been told by several people that it will lock again when i update to itunes which would defeat the purpose.

Im exasperated. I now have a very nice iphone that i cant use (well i can if i put an orange sim in it but due to already having a contract i dont want to do)

I dont know what else to do.

like they have told you , without the original owner asking for the code orange cannot help

Jailbreaking is your only path

or sell the orange locked one and buy a Vodafone or unlocked one

"I was told it was unlocked" If you bought it on the understanding that it was unlocked, and it isn't ask your friends friend for your money back
