  • My box has arrived! Complete with some dark chocolate drops, and six recipe cards. Although I haven't opened it the box looks lovely. Best before date is Feb 11. Now I need to strengthen my resolve...I will, will, will, will, will (maybe) give these to my sister for Christmas!

I've already decided though, that even if it's not very money saving I will get the next box, and that can be my treat when there's nothing to look forward to in February....:j

    When did you order please?
  • I got mine today and im actually quite disappointed..they are in a box with 'The chocolate tasting club' plastered on the front..with a liquid choc sachet and a tiny slab from hotel chocolat..theres no way im giving this as a gift, it looks cheap. I was under the impression the box would be hotel chocolat, not their own! So im now stuck with a £7 useless box of chocolates!

    Mine arrived this morning.
    Delivered by the postman.
Didnt need to sign for them.

Inside the brown outer box came a loose packet of chocolate drops and some recipie cards.
The main box of chocs are sealed in plastic wrapping.

I havn't decided yet if Im going to give them as a gift and cancel the subs or keep them and join. If anyone has already opened theirs perhaps they could post a pic so we can see what they look like inside?

I have recieved mine this morning and WOW do they chocs look yum, even the names of them are making me want to shove them all in my mouth right now, but I aam resisting.

I wouldnt pay £17 quid for them, I think £10 is about the right price for them, but i havent tasted them yet and i suppose thats the key to them.

Each to their own, I suppose, but I don't think they look cheap at all. They are Hotel Chocolat chocolates, from their chocolate tasting club department.

When did you order please? Earlier this week, probably Tuesday, I think.

Received mine this morning. Very impressed. I got the chocolate drops for cooking free with mine (would have preferred liquid choc though yummy) Mine had 2 lovely chocolate slabs wrapped in cellophane (V pretty) and 12 batons (dark and milk choc) along with a selection of others. I wouldn't give them as a gift because simply I deserve them more LOL. The chocolate slabs might be popped into the childrens xmas stockings though as long as they behave from now until then (or as long as my will power can last)

Edit: oh yes the point of my post was (before I got waylaid talking about chocolate) was that I phoned up straight away to cancel and also pay for the ones I received. The lady on the phone was lovely.

Only cancelled because I can't justify £17 on chocolates. At least not this side of Christmas anyway

    To be fair, the picture here is quite clear;

The box clearly says "tasting club" The offer is to entice people to become subscribers, not as a gift box for someone!

I think you do get more in the monthly selections...

    (I know this because I get them..:o)

You can't eat more than 2 or 3 at a time, they are connoisseur chocolates, not cadbury's :rotfl:

(Plus, I didn't think they were that badly priced when Thorntons were charging £1 per "posh" choc in a box at their store in Southampton last week or so!)

I don't think they look cheap at all - esp as they're not intended as gifts. It's a large box of chocolates, some are double layered, and they *are* Hotel Chocolat, but from their tasting club. I also don't think they're useless; the picture is very clear, and shows the box they're presented in, so I'm not sure why you're so mad. I would happily give them as a gift...if I hadn't already started eating them...!
    :EasterBun

In my box there are 10 different types of chocolates / slabs. Four slabs in total, which are a good size, 12 tasting batons in 2 flavours (dark and caramel) then 6 other types of chocolates, two of each. Really, really delicious, but very rich!
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
  • You lot are making me hungry now! Can't wait to get mine... and I won't be giving them as a gift. Well, I will actually... to myself! :)
