Update Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 8.

Try the Opera browser. Let me know if you have the same problems whilst using this browser.

I have fixed everything Donnie and updates IE. No-one uses it tho?. I'll wait until later on this evening before downloading opera. If this is stable I wont need to and I need FF for one of the plug ins. Thanks so far , you have been a star.

I want to eliminate the browsers from the equation. Hence a completely different browser.

Run a Full Scan with Malwarebytes.

i agree ... solves all problems and pc works much faster !

+1 more vote for a reformat, much quicker solution, easier to perform and eliminates all 'unknowns' taking your PC back to full speed its capable of in a clean installed 'factory' condition.

Sounds like it needs a format and reinstallation of the os.

Maybe and I'm not saying it isn't often effective but this is a substantial step and not for the fainthearted.

Especially because the machine has not been fully identified. So not easy to provide backup in the case of mishap.

tbh with recovery partitions the step suggested tends to be quite trivial these days... even a trained monkey could probably manage it, especially on a Dell.

    And www.malwarebytes.org is more effective.

Lets just think here a computer not been formatted in say 2 years the average computer user is gonna click on alsorts install stupid toolbars that are pointless etc etc. all the files placed on different sectors of the harddrive i.e for all the toolbars. I hardly think any program/cleaner is gonna make the computer fully clean.

A full format (not quick) and reinstallation of windows anyone could do it now basically just like a normal installer.

I understand your comment if we were talking about installing dos, windows 95,98 that be a different story involving floppy disks etc and commands.
