Santander Account Block

Options
Tried to withdraw money from ATM using my cash card for my EWeb Saver got a message displayed unauthorized I never thought much of this thinking i could just go into branch next day (saturday) only to be told by the teller that my account had a block on it, She said that she couldn't remove the block and i had to phone some department only to be told that its closed on a saturday. Now I have 0 cash till monday is there anything i can do against this.

I feel really angry now.

  • You could try the fraud department on the off chance that's what's blocked your card.
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.

Take this as a warning and close your account before they do something worse.
  • Its a good idea to escape from the evil santander but if you do,open accounts at 2 new banks/building societies.Use one to replace to replace the santandire account and leave £100 on the other (basic account) for emergencies such as this.

I cant wait till tomorrow im gonna kick up *well i cant finish the full sentance*
  • They did that to me as well... on a holiday weekend of all weekends when I tried using my Santander Electron card on PayPal (which I had done many times before). Worse still, when I went in branch on the Saturday the cashier claimed that the card was ok and I could use it but is wasn't!

I'm now happy with NatWest and there was a situation where they expressed concern over my transactions. They did the right thing and called me to check things were correct. I haven't got a bad word so far for NatWest but Santander are the complete opposite. I suggest you get away from Santander too they really are bad news.

They have never blocked my account but they did block my account internet access and then reuse to tell me why! I did an internet bank transfer then 'phoned them up to confirm it. Unfortunately they 'phoned home to confirm again only to be met with a very confused 13 yo with tonsilitus who was off school sick. As they refused to say who they were or what they wanted, my son put the 'phone down and they blocked the transfer, and stopped internet access. Now I am all for security measures, but when I 'phoned up they would not tell me what was happening - only that I was possibly being defrauded - even though I answered all of the security questions correctly. The reason? The account was a joint account with my wife and I had apparently done the internet transfer using her code. (not actually true as we have only ever had one code for both of us). I had to wait three days for my wife to be home when they were open to put it right. I don't like critisising companies that make mistakes, investigate it then put it right but when I raised the issue I just got a 'we'll look into it' and that was it. I think I'll switch.

Ok so santander are closing my account. Because there is a marker get this on my credit file. When i only have a esaver account.

    Stupid bank.
  • Seems Santander are filtering out accounts that cost them money. They are choosing to close accounts at will.
Happened to me with my business account and they even admitted it was because there was so little activity on it they were not making any money!
As many many others have said, get out of anything with Santander on it, in it, by it, or with it!!
