He was talking about philips 'ambilight'

It changes brightness intensity depending on whats onscreen which is probebly whats causing your problem

Could also be an 'eco' setting or similar

Would help if we knew the exact model of tv

    The Model is

    26PFL7532D/05

Pulling up details from philips you should switch ALL these off -
Pixel Plus HD, Luminance Transient Improver, Colour Transient Improvement, Dynamic contrast enhancement, Contrast Plus, 3D Combfilter, Active Control, Digital Noise Reduction, Jagged Line Suppression, Progressive scan

There is none of them in the Settings on the TV

The things that are there are

    Contrast+

    Active Control

And all the other Normal stuff and Contrast if off(what does that do anyway??) also Active Control is off.

Bit of a odd one this

Its looking lke all those things I wrote are built into the tv (ie, you have no control over them)

And looking at some user reviews it seems theres nothing you can do

Sounds like youve bought a bad tv there im afraid

Only thing you can do really is switch off Contrast + (Though I doubt itll help with your actual problem)

Id definitely be taking my business elsewhere first chance I got if I were you
