'Transplanting' Orange SIM into iPhone 3G - will it work?

Hi,
I am quite inexperienced about this mobile phone business. But my friend suggested that I could get a Contract for nearly free using Cashback (24 months, Dolphin £25 - with 300mins, unltd text and 500MB internet) and transplant it to my unlocked iPhone 3G.
a. Will it work? Can I use all the apps without any problems (like Maps, Mail, Safari)?
b. How are Orange's internet speeds like? I was once considering T-mobile but again my friend told me T-mobile throttles their 3G speed to about 300kbps. Orange does not do that right?
Thanks!!

It should work, but mind that 500MB of internet is quite low, and if you exceed that you could end up with a very expensive bill.
Oranges internet speeds are average, and they don't throttle like T-Mobile do. T Mobile throttle non-Android phones.0 -
It will work, but I'd keep an eye on the data usage, as for internet speeds it varies wildly depending what part of the country you are in0
