Sorry, should have been clearer - just to complete the application. It sounds like it's been approved over the phone. The advisor in the branch can just put on the system the fact that you've signed the agreement and then the card will be sent out.0 -

Ok thanks rb10, just out of curiosity all my other applications for cards took over 10 minutes as i had to give all my details, dob, employers etc but this time it was within 2 minutes all they asked for was me to confirm my occupation, i assumed they must have already had that on the system from before, and it was all done and dusted in about 2 minutes,is this normal also?? or is it to do with my pre existing relationship with them?
apologies for dragging it out with all these questions im just surprised thats all that its gone through, although looking on the halifax site it does seem their is a seperate clarity card for existing customers, i assume that the one they gave me?
The no foreign transaction fees will be very useful for us as we travel a lot to europe :-)0 -
Sounds to me like you had an automatic acceptance. Your internal rating with Halifax must be pretty good at this point in time! The agent said that wouldnt be the case but i asked her to double check before i went ahead. Again stated that no external credit check would be madethis time it was within 2 minutes all they asked for was me to confirm my occupation0

It's about getting a signature on the agreement.
If it's posted out, signed, and posted back it takes longer to issue the card than you walking in to the branch and signing the form.
Only word of advice: don't stand for any attempts from branch staff to cancel your phone application and rekey a new one. While it's unlikely it would happen, it would be a way of the branch pinching the sales credit from the call centre!0 -

i wont let them try that one then :-),thanks again, is it also normal for them to ask if i wanted to pay my account by direct debits from my ultimates rewards account. they said i didnt need to give the details as they already had them and would set up the directs debit from that account for minimum payment, on my other cards i did this after i got them not at time of applying?
Thanks for your help . Mary0 -
I did mine on-line and they posted a form for signature - as other's have said, the've probably asked you to call in to speed things up (although the cynic in me suspects they'll try flog you something as well...). I set up a DD to pay in full as part of the application, so wouldn't worry about that - good idea to set it up to pay in full if you're using it for ATM withdrawals though.
Oh, and you have the best rate they're offering (and a higher credit limit than me - yah boo sucks!).0 -

Just checked all credit agencies and no external searches, i know experian searches show almost instantaniously so all good :-).We were speaking to some friends this morning about the clarity card and they have one also, they said they were fully credit checked at the time of applying, apparently they arent halifax customers and they got a higher rate of 17.9%!!!! but i wasnt so thats great, not that their is an issue with our credit files or anything, so clearly the rewards clarity credit card from halifax is soley based on existing internal info and dealing youve had with halifax then!!!!.
I think we will Balance transfer some other cards over at this rate, which ive confirmed by phone this morning is definitely one of the best.
Thanks for your help Opinions4u
