help needed please

Could any one on the forum please help me ,I have a Dell inspiron 1545 I have turned it on by the start button and all i am getiing is a black screen then it says resuming windows however the screen goes black and nothing comes on i have got it on the mains power at the moment any help appreciated please Pearl

    hold down the power button for 10 seconds, then switch it on again, and backup (if you don't already)

  • Thank you Jaydeee + closed i have done what you suggested however my desk top has reapeared differant background ,I have a banner at the bottom informing me( Your user profile was not loaded correctly) You have been logged on with a temporary profile changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off Please see the event log for details or contact your administrator , I.m sorry to be off any bother to you but i am not very computer savvy and dont understand any off this help appreciated thank you Pearl:o

    I know after the rescent windows update my reboot was a black screen for a while, but it worked maybe your not waiting long enough?

    It was long enough for me to get a bit concerned thinking it was busted

    then shutdown and reboot from the start menu (not the button)

    You could have a corrupt profile caused by not shutting down properly (because it failed to resume from hibernation).
