    Hi Fiddiweb

Do i still have to download Malwarebytes even if i gave the credit card details? They weren't stolen, i gave them myself and my husband did.

The only difference was, my husband hasn't got a PayPal account and that is why he just tapped my details in.

But my credit card has been stopped now, they are sending me a new one out.

It's up to you dipsy, I had a look at the site and don't think anything nasty would have been downloaded to your computer (although they didn't like you leaving without taking up their offers!) but it wouldn't do any harm to download Malwarebytes and run a scan.

If you have been looking at similar sites before opting for that particular one then I would advise to use Malwarebytes also it is one of the best free malware scanners that a lot of members here use, so its handy to keep it on your computer and run it in conjuntion with your antivirus to make sure your computer is clear of anything nasty.

From what you say it just seems to be an Advance Fees type of scam, not one which involves installing anything nasty on your PC, or stealing information from it. You've cancelled the credit card, which is v. sensible.

As Fiddiwebb says, it does no harm to run Malwarebytes, which hopefully should reassure you that your PC is OK. Note that it might come up with some 'tracking cookies' or 'advertising cookies', which can be ignored or deleted, as you wish, but which aren't harmful.

My husband has 3 infections up to now and i have got 171:eek::eek::eek:

How long does a full scan last please?

Depends how big a hard drive you have and how much is on it, just persevere with the scan.
Don't stop it or restart it otherwise you will be back to square one.

Anti virus software does not pick up every nasty that come form out there. Whilst running two or more anti virus programs usually leads to confusion and problems running one regularly updated together with a good detector of malware files downloaded to your computer when on the web is a useful additional exercise. Malwarebytes is one of many but has a good reputation and is free. In truth viruses are probably less common than they used to be and malware more common. Sone anti virus programs have a whole suite of other bits including malware detectors but they are usualyy paid for ones and thhey can be a drain on the resources of your computer and make it run slowly.
If you use a free anti virus such as avira, avg or MSE (and there are others) together with malwarebytes then you will be well protected provided you regularly update it and it will cost nothing.

Bit if not very simplistic to suggest free is better . Its not its just free .
