Isn't that about the worst thing that you can do?0 -

OP, I wasn't making any conclusions about your child, I was questioning your accompanying them to Scouts. You'd be surprised how quickly children can get over shyness when Mummy's not lingering around to hide behind.0

Okay, fair enough, but I didn't really want to go into detail about what my child is and isn't doing at Beavers.
If you require the info, he's still going, I went for the first few times to see what it was about (and he wasn't hiding behind my legs, I was watching from afar!) and whether he was happy. I have now left him there, so as I said, didn't really need to talk about this. As I was saying, don't really want to pay over the odds, if after a few weeks down the line - knowing what he is like - he decides that he doesn't like Beavers, because e.g. he has to present things in front of the group in order to get a badge, etc.0 -
My advice to parents as a BSL, is to only buy the uniform when the child is invested. Also, buy from a District-run Scout shop as all the profits go into funding activities. Not only that, but in our district each group gets a commission that they can use to purchase kneckers, record cards etc.
As for 'should a parent stay'?, I always invite the parents of new Beavers to stay and see what we do. It is amazing how many take-up the offer, then later-on offer to lend a hand.Never Knowingly Understood.

We used to shuffle the uniforms down the Brownies as girls joined and left (do the same with the leaders' uniforms to be honest- mine's on about its fourth careful owner)!
Wouldn't bother buying one until you're sure he's going to stick it out to be honest though.

Ask the parents of the older girls when they move up if there uniform isn't going anywhere, when I was in the brownie/guides I always passed my uniform down to other girls, or left it with the leaders (mainly for people spilling drinks/food down themselves, or incase of any accidents!!)0

Hi,
I have bought brownie uniform off of ebay from a company based in kent. They sent out a flyer which was, I think, trying to advertise their website. On it was a discount voucher for 10% off, but you have to put a code in at the checkout. Here are the details..... try it, you never know you it may work. I have ordered from them and everything went smoothly.
website is forsterskent.co.uk
Code for discount is: fors10
Maybe I should earn commission from them!!!!0
