Hi, has anyone found a cheap place online to find the above uniforms or national stores? I'm specifically looking for Beavers outfits. Also, any stores in the Kent area?

Thanks very much.

The leaders may be able to ask mums if anyone wants to sell their child's uniform as they move on to the older groups.

I got some of my sons beavers uniform on ebay.

The only thing to watch for is the sweatshirts as the badges are sewn on to these. So some maybe quite holey and marked from the badges.

We got some navy blue school trousers instead of the beaver ones.
  • Rawcliffes were recently selling off last years shirts (they looked the same to me) if you have one nearby. They were £3ish.
We pass our old ones onto the beaver unit my kids go to.

I will say though the trousers are worth the money. I bought my oldest some when he was a beaver and they are now onto our 3rd child and still in great condition.

The only differance between the old and new shirts is that the new ones have purple beading to the edge of the collar & cuffs.

  • I'm a Brownie Guider and I also have two sons who have been Beavers and Cubs - they're due to move up to Scouts next week. I know people often buy from ebay or from parents who have older children that have moved up. Personally, I have always bought from Girlguiding UK and from the Scout Association, but always get a larger size (and I advise my Brownie parens to do the same). My two boys are getting a bit big for their Cub sweatshirts now, but they have lasted three years, so I think it has been worth buying new. Also, my daughter wanted to keep her Brownie uniform when she moved up - she's now a Brownie Guider herself, so it comes out occasionally to show the Brownies what an older type of uniform and the old style badges looked like.

Could you ask relatives for uniform items for birthday or Christmas? My boys are getting their Scout handbooks and badge books from their auntie for Christmas.

I agree - and where we meet is always very warm, so the girls only need the short sleeved Tshirt. I also give parents the option of getting uniform a piece at a time, starting with a top, then sash, then trousers. I know that the girls can choose what they want to wear, but most want to have the same as the others, and putting badges on a sash means that even if the girls grow quickly and need another top, they can still show their badges without having to re-stitch them onto another item of clothing.

Just another thought - a wanted ad in the local paper or on a supermarket notice board or church magazine?

Hi, thanks for comments. No, they're aren't too bad prices, but altogether you're looking at roughly £50, including the clubs joining fees all in one go and I was hoping to reduce that slightly as tbh I am not sure if DS is going to last as he's a little shy, and I've had to go along for a few times to keep him company.
