If its the pressure relief valve passing then you will find water outside. There will be a 15mm copper pipe coming out of the opposite side of the wall to the boiler. When the PRV lifts thats where the excess water goes. Unfortunately when they lift they inevitably get full of carp and then don't reseat properly thus thereafter when the pressure rises as the boiler heats the water out it all comes.

    Is it dripping?

    Cheers

Edit BTW If it isn't the PRV passing then we'll need to look at the expansion vessel.

I'm not sure if I'm honest, the person who looked before said it had jammed and when he pushed it again it started working, where do I need to look?, I think it was behind the front cover, or what does it look like?

Ok, I've managed to re pressurise the boiler now, however I've unfortunately put too much pressure in, will this resolve itself or do I need to do something?. Also its still not working so need to find what the pressure relief valve looks like and what I need to do with it. Any help right now would be much appreciated :-(

Ok I've now sorted the pressure and its as it should be, I just need help with locating this pressure relief valve and knowing what to do with it. I've taken a couple of pics but had to remove the http bit like last time as it won't let me put links on.

Go outside and see if the tube is producing water. Then you'll know if the PRV is passing or not. Its not a user changeable item. You'll need someone in to do it.

Yes you need to let some out - use a radiator bleed valve to reduce the pressure.

As before the PRV is not a user changeable item - if thats where the problem lies which we still haven't finally established.

Hi mate I've had a look, the only pipe I can see going outside is something about the size of a drain pipe would this be right, if so I cant see any water coming out although it would difficult to make out if it wasnt fast as the pipe and boiler are upstairs and not easy to see. It seems to keeping its pressure for now but will only light for about 30 seconds and then just drops back off again.

    Not a drainpipe! It's a 15mm copper pipe.

Cool I'll take another look, might not be able to see it properly though with where the boiler is located. The person who came out last time said he pushed the valve back in and it got it working again, is there anyway I can just do that, only want to sort it as a tempory thing

    I don't believe him.

No because even if you could your temporary fix might only last two minutes. Also we don't actually know that it was the PRV that he "pushed back in". Now, after a couple of days we still don't actually know if its the PRV operating and dumping all your pressure. The clue that this is happening is water coming out of the outlet pipe. If it isn't then it won't be the PRV and we can look for something else.

Do you know what - I'm recommending right now that we stop faffing about with this and you get someone in to look at the boiler/system properly. I'm not at all convinced the first guy knew what he was doing.

    Cheers
