Sometimes it's worth checking out the local Cat and Dog homes/rescue centres. I know an animal behaviourist who regularly checks with one in the Borders, one in Fife and one in West Lothian. I'm sorry but i don't know their adresses - you can find them in the Yellow Pages maybe.
Sometimes dogs and puppies are handed in if, for example, the owner moves abroad suddenly, or has to go into hospital etc...What I'm trying to say is that the dogs in the centres haven't all been abused or neglected.
I know someone who has a Neopolitan Mastiff from the Cat and Dog Home in Seafield Edinburgh. Apparently she had to ask if there were any dogs of that type. The staff keep pedigrees away from the public eye so that prospective owners don't look to benefit from owning a pedigree, if you know what I mean.
So maybe it's worth going in and asking the staff for the kind of dog you would like.

i tthought with it being 15 weeks old and hadn't sold it was maybe the runt of the family so i'm giving this one a miss esp. at a price of £600

    Thanx for the input though!

Dont let the runt put you off.
We have had 2 runts(smallest) of the litter , and both have been great loyal dogs, the 2nd one we have and has actually turned out better , on show standard than the rest of its litter .
I would say that the smallest is usually a quiter temperment and that may not be what you are looking for

    Hi

Go here http://www.dogpages.org.uk/ It is a website dedicated soley to rehoming of dogs. You ill be surprised at what comes up!! I have just recently bought a wee Shih Tzu puppy. I wanted a rescue dog tho but due to my kids being under 8 I was advised against it. I spent a lot of time on this website and at Bothwell and Glasgow Shelters. It is heartbreaking to see the different types of dogs in these places :-( And the different pedigrees!!! I came across 3 Shih Tzus, Lakeland Terriers, Alsations, Scotties, Westies etc you name it, they were there and that was just over the space of 6 weeks!

Ycan out on this website, in the forums area, what you are looking for and it is nationwide so people can let you know if they have seen anything for you

Let me know how you got on

He's gone home with Mary, Charlie and their two rescue dogs, Harley and Dipsy, was that you?

If not, it's safe to look again, he's happily re-homed. :T

Probably shouldn't have done this but...

...went back to the dogpages site and found Paddy, a Pattadale wire haired terrier !, he sounds lovely, only problem is they are based in Richmond, Surrey, not very near Scotland !

    Check him out though,

I think you did the right thing not taking the 15 week old puppy - at 15 weeks he's not at a good 'age' to move to a new family (puppies go through phases just like babies and children do) and any unsettlement around 16 weeks *can* cause problems which can be very difficult for the owners to deal with.

Re Dogpages - if the rescue are willing, members of DP can often link together to make a 'transport' chain to move a dog to a new 'forever' home, so distance needn't always be a problem.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
