Wire Fox Terrier Wanted
Options
A bit of a long shot this, but may as well give it a go...
I'm looking for a wire fox terrier pup (male), can travel any area over Scotland.
They are quite hard 2 get a hold of up here (tend to be down over the borders/south).
Could i just ask if everyone could please (if you have a spare minute) and check daily papers etc, or if anyone can put me in touch with someone i would be most greatful.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the scottish kennel club yet? Weve been to them twice once for a black and white springer and most recentley when i wanted a tibetan spaniel (try finding them in the yellow paper) and i called them asking for a puppy/breeders list £5 for upto 3 breeds, they can email you it within a few hours and then they send it by post, we found it usefull as no one had pups (only 5 breeders) but phoning around the breeders led me to the little pup i pick up next week or you could try finding out who the scottish club secretary for that breed is and give them a call the scottish k.c should be able to help you there if you call them.

Not sure if this is any help
FOX TERRIER CLUB OF SCOTLAND Mr J McGhie
might be worth a try
You can also do a search on the kennel club site but it doesn't seem to come up with any accredited breeders. Maybe still worth a call.

***Board Guide note, I'm going to remove the phone number from this post as the gentleman may not want his number on an open forum so if anyone wants it can you please pm this user, thanks ***Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -

Maybe there's not much call for wire terriers at the moments,
small dogs and retreivers seem to be 'de rigeur'
Terriers are also, (sometimes mistakenly) seen as having dodgy temperaments also, which could make then less popular.
Of course, it's probably because of the 600 pound price tag- that's steep.
I'd start looking round the rescue homes- maybe someone somewhere can't handle their natures, and you could give it a good home?
(there was one where we stayed in the Borders this holidays, not Lockerbie, and we were warned not to let dd near it as she was unpredictable.Nice dog, but owners reckoned not trusted with strangers without a lead.)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Found this page on the kennel club site, it lists breeders lower down the page including The Fox Terrier Club of Scotland.
http://www.kennels.co.uk/Terrier/Wire%20Fox%20Terrier.html
I suggest ringing the number, they will probably have a list of breeders in your area, or contacts for other breeders they have use (ie for mating, etc). That's how I got in touch with my beagle's breeder.
Also, have you tried asking about 'rescuing' a wire terrier? Sometimes, the top breeders keep a dog to show, then change their minds and you can find a top dog for less than the usual rate. That's what happened with my beagles, the down side is they were older puppies of eight and ten months.
Good luck, Jays0 -
