What to do - Orange representative phone call.

Options
Hello :o

I have been missing calls on my mobile all week from an unknown number, later to find out it was an orange representative (it always came up as a standard mobile number).

Anyway, I was able to answer it today and I spoke to a customer representative who wanted to talk about my 'options'.

My contract term ends in January (I have been on a 24 month Orange contract - Dolphin, 100 mins, unlimited texts - since January 2009).
I have been paying around £15 a month for this contract.
The man on the phone said he could get me a very similar version of my phone (a Nokia 6301) on a 200 mins, unlimited texts for £10 a month.

Does this seem alright? Or am I being naive as it seems quite good to me. I have less than no interest in getting a blackberry or an iPhone (I do not use my phone all that much), I would actually prefer to have my own phone, mark II. The man assured me that the phone I would receive is just an improved version of the one I have now. The problem is: I won't be able to see it before it comes, and I don't want to be tied in for 18 or so months with a phone I don't like.

I have asked them to call me back on Monday so I have time to think about it. What should I do? Are there any hidden costs doing it this way? And when does the new contract start? (Will I lose any money saying 'yes' now, or should I wait until January?)

Thank you.

Never put tables and chairs in the same room.
If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.

Only you can decide if it is all right, personally I would not entertain any 24 month contract.

I don't think it'll be Orange phoning you, it'll be a third party claiming to be them, I'd contact Orange yourself to check if you've been offered any deals

I had calls from a mobile actually and rang Orange who checked the number for me and it was just the number of one of their shops in my local area. I went for the deal they offered me and haven't had any problems!

Same deal but no phone is standard sim-only from Orange with 18-month tie-in. You should be able to get them to beat that in January.

Or, get a £10 Nokia from CPW and Voda are offering 300 minutes plus unlimited texts 12-month contract for £10. Remember you need to PAC to Voda at the time you take out the contract, though.

Keep your tie-in as short as possible, particularly if you are happy with a basic phone.

Wait till January as you will be in the driving seat.
