I have the 3G + Wi-Fi version and it's a lovely little device imo. well made, very easy to use, very easy to - most importantly - read. I love it.0

how long is the bus journey? I had to do a 1.5 hr trip to and from home at weekends, I used to just listen to music. Read while moving on a bus can give you a headache or in my case fall asleep and miss my stop which was just before the bus station making my walk to my dorm 20 mins with a bag of clothesSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

I have no issues reading my Kindle and it's much more convenient than a heavy book, but would want to check availability of textbooks before investing in one.
You say you've already bought some? Can they be read on a Kindle? I work with students who have access to a lot of e-book textbooks but these are browser-based, not Kindle compatible.
Is she doing a subject which is all text? i.e. if she's reading a biology textbook with lots of diagrams I don't know how well that would compare - although I've been quite impressed with the Kindle rendering of images.0 -
thanks for the comments
this would be mainly for reading e-books about dinosaurs which is the subject she has choose to do for her (whatever that D word thing is, that extra course work to get your degree
so i've got a lot of the e-books she can use,
from what i've read they can take pdf files, so they should work,
in my old job i would have just brought it, but in this job i have to watch the pennies0 -

Most Uni / College required text books should have PDF versions available.
Think i read on a Tech Site last week, that most Uni's are moving towards E-Books only for students, it's more economical for them.
I love my kindle (I'm a light reader but it's 1 month old and not needed to recharge yet!)
I've got the Wi-Fi only version but i've tethered it to my Mobile so i've got access to more books if ever i feel the need for a new book while i'm out and about...Laters

Thinking of getting one for my Wife. She reads a lot but also surfs the net a bit, nothing major. Is the internet any good for basic use?0
