I thought so, they certainly dont have temples, they have Kingdom Halls, they also dont tithe

    Not sure about the mormons

They both pay tithing, though the witnesses are not as strict, they just call it a contribution.
The witnesses do indeed have Kingdom Halls that they go to each week but they may have Temples as well. Just as the Mormons have their Meeting houses that they visit each week but also have Temples where worthy members may go to, but these are very different from the weekly meeting houses.

No They dont on both counts

I was brought up as a JW when i was younger and my parents are and have been for many years JW's so i know this for a certainty

This is why i commented as there are many times when false information is stated without any response, I know it hardly matters to the OP and i have answered his question but just didnt wanted to see bad info not challanged again

I have no idea about the Temple for witnesses, i have never heard one mentioned and have many friends who are witnesses. I know that my friends do pay to the church but i dont think it is 10% or any rigid amount, just what they can afford or see fit to pay.

I apologise if i didnt stress this correctly, and have offended you in any way.

That is correct, they have a small box usually near the entrance that anyone can contribute if they want to voluntarily, (ie they dont pass a plate or have a specific amount) so it is down to ones willingness and ability, so not a tithe

Dont worry not offended, it is reasonable that people might think that as bad info is often repeated, hence why i felt the need to counter:D

No problem, i too feel the need to set things straight when people give incorrect info about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. :)

The "Mormons" do pay tithe, ie 10% but that also is voluntary and is a private matter. There is no collection plate or box anywhere, just the envelopes that are specifically for members of that particular congregation.

Ooops, sorry OP for the hijack of the thread. :o

The op did not say how much they tithe or how just as they did not clear up the word temple..I know JW's who use the word Temple as do Mormons so that does not mean much either way.

I am not now nor was I ever having a go at either or any faith, as I said, I asked because there are options for help but it depends on which faith they are.

Debtinfo, I did not post any bad info as you put it, I just asked what faith they were (and nothing more).. You might have answered their question but to be fair there might also be more help avalible if we had better info.

  • I think given that the op has not given much info on his religion would be a indication that they do not want/need advice or options of help in that area. His question was was answered in regards to any IPA and wether the OR would have an issue with it.
