My daughter is a keen cyclist and we race all over uk and into Europe.
We have 12 bikes and carry 8 of them on/in the car should we need.
Bikes loaded on the roof are ok but Mountain bikes very heavy to lift up there.
Tow bar mounted carriers are great but expensive for the carrier and the fitting of a towbar.
Carriers mounted on the rear hatch are ok but highly likely to damage car and bike.
By far easiest option is removal of front wheel, and drop back seats.

Does the bike have quick release wheels (little levers)? If so it won't take you 2 mins to remove the front wheel. Round here many people simply remove the front wheel when parking their bikes up to prevent theft. If no quick release then yes its more trouble than its worth.0

I doubt it.0 -
most bikes have quick release these days only tends to be the very cheap bikes which don't. I always advocate local bike shops for things like this keeps them in a job and they will show you what to do.
removal and replacement of front wheel with quick release skewers (looks like a lever rather than a nut) is by far the quickest, cheapest and easiest option.
Comment on the tyre maybe correct as well tho. options here are to let it down and reflate it or change the tyre. This depends on brake type if they are disc brakes then no problem, v brakes and wide tyres could mean you have to let the tyre down.0
