Great, thanks! We've done a bit of homework and it just suits us so well. Hubby used to go to a couple of pubs that way. Also, the friends I tend to drive to see (we meet up together) are in Woodford Green, Cold Norton and Ware, so it's kinda central to everyone so they can all come to me and I don't have to drive home ;) And my family are all in Essex too.

Please please please keep everything crossed. Would love to get the house we've seen. Had some very bad luck with house buying/selling this time round so would make a nice change for things to work out!

Had no idea Crossrail was going there until recently - after we'd seen the house we want. Read about Shenfield being on the line which nearly swung us towards there, but then looked up the route and was surprised to see Brentwood was on it too. Had no idea it was going out that far. Thought it was just a East London/Heathrow thing.

Good luck, nakiwala. Hope you find something you love there too! Not sure what your budget is, but definitely worth considering the old Warley site - mainly red brick houses/flats generally under 10 years old but with lots of character and seem well built. Some converted from the old (mental) hospital. Near to station, huge park, etc...

My only other observation would be to make sure you can walk to the station because it costs an arm and a leg to park there these days.

    £5.10 a day at Brentwood
    £6.20 a day at Shenfield

    :O

Also consider having to walk back up Warley Hill after a hard day at work!
