I heard a rumour that Brentwood is the home for the 'National Breeding Centre For Chavs and Bimbos', this was confirmed in a recent ITV2 docu-series.

    Better known as Amstrad? :D

Did they forget that Romford exists?

Problem with Brentwood is you get some dodgy types coming from East London(no barriers at the train station doesn't help) thinking that it's 'posh.'

I'm a dodgy type from east London and I always pay my fare!

I didn't mean to stereotype but you know what I mean. People come to cause trouble because they can, and causing trouble somewhere they think is 'posh' is apparently more fun.

Shenfield is really the best location in the area. It's pricey but if you care about where you live (as opposed to the house you live in) it's the place to be.

We're (hopefully) buying in Brentwood. Don't you go buying the house we want lol ;)

Looking on the Warley estate where the old hospital was. Brentwood's often termed 'Posh Essex' (gawd knows why). Don't know much about the High Street, but then I'm not a High Street kinda gal. So long as there are decent proper pubs nearby, gigs, nice parks/open space, etc and somewhere has a decent reputation, I'm happy.

Yep, the docu-soap thingy (The Only Way is Essex) is set there. If you can bear the whole Essex tag (I can... got the accent 'n' all to prove it), it's fine. Nice enough.

We wanted Epping before Brentwood. Pricier generally, but nice - and end of Central Line so probably able to get a seat at least one way if commuting.

The 40 min commute doesn't bother me. Happy to sit down with headphones on if people are annoying me, and just read a book or mag. I work near Liverpool Street so I don't have any travelling this (work) end.

Hubby's friends and family are in Romford so very easy for him to get there and back when not wanting to drive, there are gigs on in Brentwood which we'll probably go to, and we spend a fair bit of time in Ipswich which, again, is easy to get to from Brentwood. Seems to tick a lot of boxes for us.

FYI, we're currently in East London. Looking forward to moving out a bit.

PS the Crossrail thingy will be stopping at Brentwood and Shenfield. Goes straight to Heathrow, and Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street, etc. Absolutely brilliant for us as we use all of those very often. Years away yet though... I think it's a good long term choice.

I'm really looking forward to Crossrail. It's going all the way to Bond Street and that's where I work?

No more changing at Liverpool Street for the central line.

That part of Warley I do know and it is very nice around there, some lovely houses.

The Swan in Brentwood High Street is a nice old pub, has live music, poker nights, quiz nights... nicest pub in Brentwood in my opinion.

Crossrail, forgot about that, can't be anything but good.
