Private buyers, raaah

I've been selling various bits and bobs through Gumtree, Trade-it etc and what really does not rock my socks is people who ring up, sound interested, agree a time to come out and get the item and then never show. And never ring or text to say they're not coming.

Its not hard you useless, discourteous halfwit b******s , you managed to pick the phone up in your fat jam stained spam hands in the first place to claim you wanted the item, the least you can do is call me or text me to say your pathetic twittering Jeremy Kyle saturated leaking spongebag brains have skipped onto something different and you've changed your mind.

Its not rocket science. I don't mind if you've changed your mind, I do however mind if you just vanish into the ether leaving me listening for cars outside.

I sold my old TV the other week and the first guy who rang agreed to come over and get it at 6pm, I fobbed off 6 other interested parties saying it was sold and lo he never shows. 3 days later he resurfaces and wants to know if the TV is still for sale. F**k off I sold it you nob.

The woman who bought my chickens was an hour late. An hour late! With no call to let me know, she just rocked up an hour after the agreed time with nary an apology, the silly witch.

    LOL, great vent !
I believe these idiots are referred to as 'Tyre Kickers'
  • i've had a few like that - usually ignore gmail a/c emails, as no name or item mentioned in their reply to ad an, so guess just phishing for addresses..

if smeone calls, and a bit vague as to when they can come (next week..?), i would say someone else is also interested, who are coming the next day- if really want it, they will get in early!

Never tell other potential buyers it is sold until you have cash in your hand and the item is gone. Even if that means telling a buyer who turns up at your house that you have just sold it. Tough but essential if you ever hope to sell stuff without being driven mad. If you're nice you can ask them to ring and check it hasn't been sold before they set off and that other buyers are interested but NEVER say it's sold until you have cash in hand and it is actually sold. There are many many timewasters and deadbeats out there and to some extent you may have to take chance on wasting someone elses time if you hope to sell without being driven nuts.:(

Great rant. You have to treat all callers with suspicion. Its mainly because they dont have the guts to tell you they are not interested. If you insist on taking their phone number,I assure you they either turn up or ring you.

All very true. Although, when I say 'fobbed off' what I actually did was say its sold but that I'd call them back if the guy never showed to collect (I've used Gumtree before so I know the kind of gimmers who loiter on there, ahaaaaa).

So I took all their numbers in strict order of who rang and then when the guy didn't show I rang the second bloke back, who did show up and bought it. Nice chap.

And I'm glad my rant has provided some amusement :D
