anyone good with a sewing machine? I got a new singer and even with the tension set to minimum my top thread keeps snapping. Any ideas?
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Can anyone advise me on whether I can make a short jacket out of curtain material?:)

I've been looking around for ages for a suitable fabric for a 1970s boho/retro jacket (not for me, for my daughter). There is so little choice and hardly any dress fabric shops but I went to a curtain fabric mill shop today and there were boho/retro designs in everything like cotton, silk, chenille, tapestry etc in allsorts of weights.

I'm new to sewing, so any views, please?

You can use curtain fabric but you'll need to ensure you buy a fabric that is the right weight for the jacket you want to make - the pattern pack with give a guide to the weight of fabric to use. I wouldn't try to use anything too heavy - chenille and tapestry are quite difficult to sew so I would leave those types of fabric until you have more experience.
