  • I dont know much about motorbikes to be honest but i imagine that the part you mention would be a major part of the bike. I cant see this part suddenly giving up , would imagine that it would happen over time.

For this reason i would think that it should have beeb picked up yesterday at the MOT ?

If it were me , my first port of call would be back to the MOT centre it was tested at.......there are some MOT centre staff who would ensure that a "pass certificate" were given regardless of any faults found;)
The loopy one has gone :j

It's a private sale you have no recourse, as you said it was fine until you got home.
  • Both seals? are the forks pitted.
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • sounds like the bikes been stood a while, and the rubber has dried out.

did you notice any oil on the forks when you looked at the bike?

fork seals are a cheap service item, but you really need to check the state of the forks

it's not unusual for both to go, one fails first, and the other can't cope with the extra work, so that blows too
  • Thanks for the replys it was just 1 seal that has gone always has to happen to me :( phoned another garage got a quote for 125.00

  • They can go quickly, but not often.

What bike is it? With almost all bike's it's a really straight forward job to remove the front wheel, brake calliper and then drop the fork stanchion (the shiny chrome bit) through the yokes. Then take the one offending fork to the dealer, should be no more that £40 all in.

Failing that, join your local MAG (Motorcycle Action Group) and ask them for dome help.

    Good luck with it
