Terminate o2 contract early?
Options
Hi all,
My 18-month contract with o2 comes to an end in mid-December of this year. However, I would like to transfer my number to another network now.
I called o2, aware that I would be liable to pay for the remaining 2 months of the contract. Currently, I pay £25 per month (this is £35 less £10 loyalty discount). Therefore, I am happy to pay them £50 to leave now. However, o2 are saying I have to pay £70, and that the loyalty discount is irrelevant. I pointed out that I signed up for £25 per month, and that this is what I pay on a monthly basis, regardless of how they have come to this figure. However, they are insistent that I have to pay £70. Does anybody have any experience like this?
Thanks!

It depends how your terms and conditions are worded. When I look at mine it says that paying early will be at the value of the contract when I took it out, before any discounts or reductions are applied.
Presumably they feel that they are aware of the agreement between you, so if you are disputing this you will need to produce the evidence that contradicts their claim.
Send this to the O2 Complaints Review Service, with a request that your PAC be issued and the cancelation charge confirmed.0 -
The loyalty discount won't count if you're not being "loyal" and moving elsewhere.
Maybe wait a month, as you have to give 30 days notice anyway?0
