Orange San Francisco Handset With a T-Mobile Sim & My Old Number From Tesco Mobile

Ok...
Having bought the Orange San Francisco phone, I've unlocked it, I've signed up and received the T-Mobile £10 a month sim offer as discussed on another thread and I've also transferred across my old number from Tesco Mobile which is now active on the new handset.
In the 'about phone' settings however, my handset still displays my mobile number as the one assigned to the T-Mobile sim even though it isn't active anymore.
Does anyone know if / how I can update this to the number I've brought across from Tesco please?
In continuing to display the wrong number, is this affecting the phone's use / performance in other ways?
Any help would be much appreciated.
