    Yep, that's the only way.

    Ah, well - thanks.

I'll have to look a bit further afield I guess - I've just found 6 old mascaras! I knew never throwing things away would come in useful some day :P
  • Thanks for this OP.
I took one of my daughters old cheap mascaras (and I mean cheap - £1) in and managed to get my freebie this morning. Must say that I had to have a consultation which was only a couple of minutes long with the Clinique lady asking me a couple of questions about what mascara I use/like and what would best suit me and then after giving it to me I had to book an appointment to go back in 2 weeks time (when I've used it all up) to let them know what I thought of it etc....
Has anyone else been asked this too as I have 3 daughters and because the younger two are 15 and 13 I don't think they will want to go into boots/clinique themselves and they have plenty of empty ones to take in so just wondered whether as I am going to another town tomorrow shopping would I be able to take one of their old ones in to swap but not need a consultation too so they can grab a freebie too.
    Many thanks in advance.

got mine today - no consultation but I did have my 3 kids picking up things from the display hence this is why she may have hurried me away.

PS there are 2 types of mascara samples but I could only get 1

Thanks so much. I got mine today and looking forward to using it. The lady behind the counter was lovely too so it really made my day as up to that point this morning my day was a bit pants.

Also read the article in the Metro on the same page about the british woman who died in the Dominican Republic. How terribly sad.

Went to get mine today & the lady couldn't have been nicer :) She asked if I wanted a make over (Rather than told me I had to), so I thought I would! She didn't pressure me into buying anything at all, but did write it all down for me-I'm very tempted to go back & buy some eyeshadow & lipgloss now, which I was very impressed with! She said I was the first she'd seen interested in the offer, but while I was sitting there, 2 more women came up & asked about it....I told her it was probably because it's on MSE now! She didn't pressure them into a makeover, just told them to put their mascara in the little bin and choose a new one, which were sitting on the counter. So pleased with my new freebie, and really impressed with the Clinique lady at my local Boots-thank you very much OP!
