2nd hand car missing interior parts

  • If you noticed they were missing before you purchased the car then the dealer would have had an incentive to replace them. As you have already bought the car you have only their goodwill to rely on, as this seems to be lacking there it little you can do.

Not the dealers fault - if they weren't there then it is sold as seen !!
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

2nd usually sold as seen. There's room for negotiation at the time, but rarely afterwards. Mine was missing a tow eye cover when I bought it, but squirreled one out of them- I wouldn't have considered going back to them with a complaint had I noticed it afterwards.

I am really not trying to be difficult but what the hell are rear childrens sunblinds ? When I was a kid you were lucky if you got a rear seatbelt let alone something to keep the sun off your face. That is what hats/ sunglasses/ ducking down was for.

Watching this thread with a keen interest, I bought a car without an engine and gearbox, Now wondering
if its possible to sue the seller for not including them.

Pretty sure it would have had one as standard when it was new?

If they were not mentioned in the advert then they are not included and no amount of threats will make them fit them.

If they were an important part of the purchase then you really should have check them. I only found out my car had the
optional fuel computer after 3 days of owning it, Spotted the extra button for it.

I didnt look as it was unimportant to me. But should i offer the seller more money because i have found it has this item and
they didnt list it in the sale?

I'm really sorry to hear your story. I wouldn't worry too much about the additional fuel computer, as without the gearbox and engine, it won't be much use. I appreciate that you might not have checked the car before you paid for it, but surely you noticed when you tried to drive it away? Did you take this up with the seller there and then. Unfortunately if you didn't , unless you pointed it out to the person straight away you may have difficulty proving that you did not remove the engine and gearbox yourself.
