Where to buy abroad for 25K and make a killing please

Hello all you clever people out there...

I have 25k sitting in an account (fairly high interest paying - don't worry) but feel it should be working harder. Don't want a mortgage I don't think so wondered where I can buy property that I don't have to do much to and can resell at a profit in a couple of years time. Has anyone done this?

I see the Bulgaria thing has been done to death so obviously not there. You see people on TV doing it so it must be done but by the time the programmes are broadcast I guess the market has moved on. Ideas please?

Actually, I'm in a very similar situation. I'm a little bit tempted to buy somewhere in Northern Spain which needs a bit of work doing to it. As I'm able to do most of the work myself, it might be a good idea.

I'm not looking to make a killing but would like somewhere for my family to holiday.

I'll probably wait for a little while though and see what happens to property prices and interest rates, both in the UK and abroad.

I'd be interested to hear what others think too.

Investing abroad is okay, but going over with the intention of making a killing is not advisable.

It could have serious consequences and you may end up in prison
  • Nice one!!!! :D:D:D

There are no "get rich quick" schemes out there. You will get fleeced if you are not careful, my dad used to say "if it's not good enough for Barclays Bank it's not good enough for me".

Don't be taken in by the hype peeps. Look at the average wages for the majority of thos countries and then think about who is going to buy the property off you. A local? Not likely at those prices Especially when they can buy one from a fellow countryman for a fraction of the cost.
When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........
  • Now that programme cracked me up last night!! Where on earth did they get those rediculous figures from? When will people realise that the housing boom is now over. Yes you will still be able to make some money in property but it wont be a simple case of buy anything, anywhere and wait (unless your talking 15+ years).

More likely another Brit who sees your 500% return 10 years too late and wants to make a killing...

Which part of South Africa is the world's "murder capital"? Sounds like the place to make a killing!
