mobile phone contracts

hi there i am new to this site, and was just wondering if i could get any advice on lowering the tariff on a mobile contract, i am a working mum whom has fallen on hard times and have had no help at all from the mobile phone company when i have contacted them. any advice on how to construct a letter would be greatfully accepted.

How long is your current contract and how far into it are you?
Who is the provider?
What tariff are you on?

Sometimes you can get onto a lower tariff.
Some people have suggested selling a phone, if it is a reasonable one, to help offset the cost of the contract.

Different providers have different rules on when you can lower your tariff and how much although I'm pretty sure all of them will allow you to at some point in time.

Don't bother with a letter, phone back and speak to somebody, if they tell you they can't do that ask why not, ask when you can and by how much. The first time you called could have just been bad luck, in the past I've called my mobile provider, bank and credit card company back straight after a call because I've got through to somebody who was useless and I usually get through to somebody who's helpful the next time.
