Do sellers have 2 post what listing states?

Won an item fairly fairly cheap (shoes), item was stated as 2nd class recorded at £5 and I was more than happy to pay this and liked the fact that it was recorded.

But then a bit miffed when it was sent 2nd class normal post for £2.36.

Can a seller just then list whatever p/p they want, but then change their minds when it comes to posting it?

I would email seller and get the 75p refunded. It is possible that the recorded sticker fell off but maybe not for that price postage.
I have done the same as the seller before now. When you have 20 parcels sometimes the post office don't send as you have requested and sometimes you forget what you have said you would send by if you listed it by "selling similar item". Probably an honest mistake.

Problem is its not worth getting 75p refunded is it, cos then paypal will take a %.

No, PayPal don't take a % of what the Buyer refunds you, as long as it is actually processed as a 'Partial Refund'.

Even if PayPal did take a %, the money refunded would be better than nothing, no?

If a refund is made from the original payment there will be no charges.

Recorded used to be 75p, it is actually 74p now but it is close enough.

The only thing being queried is the fact that postage was stated as recorded and that service was not used. The OP is not querying the general overpayment as they state 'they were happy with the postage charge'.

They technically can, but they will soon run out of buyers and probably get few repeat customers, particularly if comparison shopping in the same market shows them up to be overpriced.

At the risk of sparking another debate about postage charges, that mark-up would annoy me if the only thing the seller was using to send the item was recorded rather than proper insurance like Special Delivery. I wouldn't have been happy with paying £5 for something that cost half that to send. Plus recorded gives you no extra benefits and doesn't track half the time anyway.

Mark them down on their postage stars, you were happy to pay the price asked but you didn't get what you pay for and one of the ways of telling people this is not on is to leave appropriate feedback.
