Dorothy Perkins, Complaint and Spam!

I went to a branch of DP and the store was very busy. I was looking for the jeans when I heard a crack and felt a sickening pain in my leg. I looked down to find that I had cracked my leg on a CLEAR display unit which was jutting out.
I was in considerable pain and when I looked round for a chair, I noticed the girls had obviously saw what happened as they were standing there giggling! Not one came over to see if i was ok so I hobbled outside to the nearest bench.
I mailed DP through their site explaining what happened and the reactions of their staff. I said that I thought the clear displays were dangerous as they were so difficult to see and patially obstucted walkways.
I didn't recieve a reply but I recieved spam!!!
I put in another complaint, forwarding my first complaint and saying they had the audacity to send me spam when I requested not to hear about special offers etc. I wanted them to take me off the list and at least comment on my complaint.
Still no reply but more spam.
REALLY nasty phonecall on Tuesday methinks.

Freebie Hunter - if you don't get any joy with the phone call then a stiff leter of complaint to the Head Office is called for! How rude of them, OK it may have looked quite funny to an onlooker but they should have come over to see if you were ok.
You were probably one in a long list of people who had done the same thing. Do you have a nasty bruise now? If you do then arnica gel take down any bruising really quickly and it isn't sore for as long.
I hope you get an apology and no more spam!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Email is never a good way to communicate in a situation like this.
You should have written directly to their Head Office, you may have got more joy.
Hope the leg's getting better though.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I agree, a letter is far better than an email, somehow companies seem to react more to a letter...0

A friend of my sister experienced similar rudeness from sales assistants recently when shopping for a bra in Evans (the shop for larger sizes). When the bra was being put in a bag, one of the girls nudged her friend, made a 'big knockers' gesture with her hands and they both giggled.
The lady in question was so embarrassed she completed her purchase in a hurry and left. She is thinking about writing to complain, but is still really embarrassed and upset about the whole thing.
I'd have thought that staff working in a shop specialising in larger sizes would have a certain amount of training in being sensitive about their customer's sizes. Incredible, isn't?A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
I recently bought a (very large!) bra in M&S. I look quite young and am self-conscious of having big boobs so try and make them look as small as possible. When I put the bra down on the counter to pay the elderly assistant said very loudly "You'll never fit in that, dear! It's far too big." and peered at my chest. I was so embarassed I was shaking as I walked home.
I haven't complained yet. I would like to but I find it hard to see how I can do so without looking silly as I don't have any evidence, much like the lady mentioned above who went to Evans.something missing0 -
Never mind about not having evidence - complain!
Write them a letter saying that personal comments have made you unwilling to go in there again to shop and that you feel sure you are not the only person that this has happened to.
The store should appreciate having this brought to their attention - if they have any sense at all."This site is addictive!"
