Excuse my ignorance, but what's a Slax distro and a dual boot?
Slax is a Linux distribution, (as are ubuntu, suse, puppy et al) basically the poster was saying is that he has two linuxes on the same pc , and he boots one or the other depending his/her mood/needs. You can dual boot (or multi-boot) different operating systems on any PC , I use Win 7/Win XP/Ubuntu on the same box.
I won't go into the possibilities of using virtual machines which basically say I boot Win xxx and run a program which allows me to also run Linux-A Linux-B and WinZZ all on the same pc. I think the poster was a little off your thread , but at least it made you ask.
Of course my explaination is probably not very detailed but you asked I answered, if you want other info this forum is usually very good

re#11 "Excuse my ignorance, but what's a Slax distro and a dual boot?"
The guide below will explain the basics better than I can of working from a Slax distro also known as Live CD, which in use will be free of malware and is reasonably fast to work from.
Live CD/distro or usb stick.

With dual booting you have Windows and Ubuntu installed alongside each other, in which Ubuntu is a pretty hard system for malware to install on unlike Windows.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's a Slax distro and a dual boot?
Slax is a particular serving suggestion of a GNU/Linux system.
Dual boot is a method of running a PC which has a system (say, Windows) and also a second system which can be chosen when you start up. You can dual boot Windows XP and Windows 7 or whatever, but some people dual boot with 'something completely different'..... for example, GNU/Linux. I use Ubuntu rather than Slax.
However, because money in the GNU/Linux world is not made when you get the software, it is usual to be able to get the software and also to run it, from a CD, and without even installing it!
This is called a Live CD. It runs a full system with full internet capability, albeit a little bit slow because of the CD spinning up etc. There are ways to verify that the CD is just as the authors intended.
Use of a live CD means that no programs or malware already on your PC hard drive are used.
This is the reason why the NSW Police have made the comment they did in the link below.

I have just found this item on a similar idea:

The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Software Protection Initiative has produced Lightweight Portable Security, a tool created in-house that essentially creates trusted endpoints for remote access. It is a bootable CD developed with open-source software that works with most Windows, Mac or Linux computers to create a nonpersistent trusted node for secure Web browsing, cloud computing or network access. It boots a Linux operating system from a LiveCD and installs nothing on the client computer, running only in RAM to bypass local malware and leave no record of the session.
