...my beer went from 2,25 to about 2,75 but this friday i was dying for a beer so i popped to my local 'market' and it had gone up to 3,35!! thats about 50pc in 12 months!--

As aside to this we pay our secretary 600 lira a month so about 265 quid so a beer is an expensive investment on a normal working wage!!

 I would definitely choose Germany/Netherlands/Belgium to live rather than Turkey in that case! :rotfl::beer:

I've just had a 'no-spend' weekend - DD's birthday party was on Saturday so by the time I got to OH's afterwards, there wasn't enough weekend left to do our normal trip to Mr S.

Ex-hub kindly bought a chinese takeaway Friday night and I just made do with freezer bits (potato waffles and duck spring rolls :rotfl:) on Saturday and didn't really eat much on Sunday. OH had bought me some milk for work.

So I've lost the plot a bit, need to get back on track. I have a list for Mr Ts tonight, tried to get a few bits from the Mr S near work just now, the choice is rubbish though and their reductions are frankly pathetic. Only spent £1.26 on a lemon, 2 carrots, 3 bananas and some yoghurts for DDs' packups.

Being a bit short on 'lunch' options I am sitting here enjoying a tin of Mr S basics tuna from my cupboard (straight from the tin) and half a dozen ritz crackers I found in my desk drawer - they must have been in there the best part of a year, but taste fine! :D

Might seem an odd lunch to some (possibly verging on arctic explorer rations :rotfl:), but it will keep me going till tonight and uses up stuff I already have.
  • Well I'm livid...

looked at my online banking and saw I was charged twice on my debit card for some wine I bought in a small local shop.

They refuse to refund it, because there's 'no proof that I didn't buy two lots of wine separately'

Will never, ever go there again!

:(:( So that's another £12 to add to the GC for absolutely nothing.

    Can't you contact the bank?

Brrrr its absolutely freezing here today.Need plenty of these - :coffee: to stop from turning into one of these -:snow_laug :rotfl:

Have spent £ 42.88 since last update and noticed a big difference in prices of stuff, particularly cooking oil and juice. Did managed to get the flour from T$sco that was 3 4 2 at last and if have any room left next week will try to get some more if its still on but cupboards etc are full at moment and finding it hard to squeeze anything else in.

Made lamb rogan josh the other night and it was gorgeous, all three of us had a large portion of it and there are two portions in the freezer for another day. Will be making it again for certain.

Tonight we are having liver, onions and mashed spuds.
Tomorrow am planning to go to the new B&M which opened today in a nearby town. Have been told its bigger than the one I go to at the moment so am hoping there are more bargains in there :D

İ am concluding it is not cheap to have a turkish diet here in turkey lol--it is healthier and tasty but inflation is constantly eating into cheapness!
İ stopped drinking beer last january because i wanted to live a healthier life and lose some weight plus the price of alcohol had just been put up 10pc in the new years eve budget--my beer went from 2,25 to about 2,75 but this friday i was dying for a beer so i popped to my local 'market' and it had gone up to 3,35!! thats about 50pc in 12 months!--basics like bread and cheese are good and cheap but things like beer and chocolate are very expensive. the Governnment controls unhealthy living by pricing it out of people's reach-this seems to have a logic that the British Gov might learn from after this weeks report on alcohol doing more hard than hard drugs to the health of the country!
As aside to this we pay our secretary 600 lira a month so about 265 quid so a beer is an expensive investment on a normal working wage!!

LOL my mum wants me to go and live in Izmir/Turkey when I get my redundancy next year. She thinks I can find a good job. I will send your post to her. If you are not earning £££ , if you are earning Lira, there is no way you can catch up with high inflation. Simples.:D
Actually thanks de1amo- your posts are eye opener for me because I am considering going there just to keep my mum happy but not so sure because of the different culture etc...However a house by the see near Bodrum might help me change my mind- hahaha fat chance of getting that house LOL
    Don't forget smiling :):):)

AArrghh! Asked OH to pick up a couple of things expecting around bill of 6-8 pounds. He spent £28!!! :eek:Fortunately a few things were on a special buy 2 for £X and these are now in the freezer. This weekend's shop will have to be for the absolute basics and we will eat from the freezer for the rest of next week. Curry in slow cooker as I speak and has been augmented by tomatoes, peppers and lentils so the chicken left from Sunday's raost will strtch as far as possible.

Ring your banks debit card services, number usually on the back of the card, and get them to dispute the entry.
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

    Hello All, :hello:

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days but I have been reading. :p We had the rugby to watch on Saturday and then I got a blinding migraine and ended up in bed by 7.30 pm. Then we had the final grand prix of the season on Sunday and I had a lazy day as I wasn't feeling too great. Better today but busy day in work.

I was hoping for an NSD yesterday and today but ended up having to get a few bits yesterday so only the one added. I'm reasonably pleased with our total so far but Coop have 2 x 1ltr of rib**a for £2.99 which seems a good deal so OH will get that tomorrow. Actually I just checked the price on MYSup and the cheapest price for 1ltr is £2.76 and the 2ltr bottle is cheapest at A**a for £3.99. Just got to hope they have it in stock now. I'll probably take advantage and also pop into MrT from work to top up milk, nanas and probably more of the 3 for 2 baking things if it's still on. At least that way we only blow one NSD rather than two. :p

I've had an invitation through from Am*x whereby if I use that to pay for two shops at a minimum £30 at MrT during this month then I get 1000 extra points come my Feb 2011 statement. :T Not to be sneezed at. Had to fill the car up today on my way home and so went to MrT to do it as I had a 5p off per litre coupon as well and used the Am*x. I can't find anywhere that petrol is excluded from the deal although other exclusions such as finance products, etc are noted. So here's hoping. In all honesty I'm sure I can do two £30 shops there before the end of the month even if it's stocking up some things. :o

Hmmm, actually looking at my total so far I may not be able to do that without busting the budget. I will need to get a bag of cat food later in the month and that's £32. Then two x £30 in MrT would take me to £134 leaving very little wriggle room. Oh and that won't allow for my meat from the butcher! :( :naughty: Yay, just realised I increased the budget by a tenner this month so could be doable. I think I'll give it some more thought though.

We've been invited by a dear friend to hers for Christmas lunch and all my tribe in tow (OH, DD, partner and the 2 GD). OH is over the moon as he doesn't have to cook. We'll also have a complete rethink now on whether to even get a turkey. We may just get a chicken or just a nice piece of beef. I do like a rib at Christmas but don't spoil ourselves with that any other time of year. We tend to have a turkey at Easter too so maybe we'll give it a miss this season.

Ok, enough chat from me. Off to put me feet up and watch the gogglebox. :D Have a great evening all and I'll see you again tomorrow.

    Take care,
    Spigs

Totally off topic, but boy am I fed up :(

My ovens - both top and bottom - don't appear to be regulating properly, and I've been having problems with things taking longer to cook than they should.

So I bought an oven thermometer and it confirms that my ovens are both running at 20ºc-30ºc lower than the dials say (which in itself makes me wonder if the thermometer I bought is working, as that seems to be a lot for the ovens to be out by - the cooker is only 2 years old) Anyway, I've tried adjusting the dials to 20ºc above what I need them to be, and I'm still having biscuits/cookies turn out like bricks because I'm having to cook longer than it says.

My microwave broke earlier in the year and so with the majority of the little money I had left from my wages before being made redundant, I bought a combi microwave last week.

Today, I tried making an Onion Quiche/Tart in it using the convection setting, and although the filling looks as though it's cooked ok, the pastry took longer than it should to cook when I was baking it blind. Now it's finished baking, I've broken a piece off to try and you could break your teeth on it :(

I've also followed that by trying a Beef & Ale Casserole in it on the combi/microwave setting, which is only supposed take 40 minutes, which I cooked for 60 minutes and it was still as tough as old boots, so I gave up and put it in the normal oven that isn't regulating properly to see if I can finish it off in there for an hour.

OH isn't feeling well so didn't want any tea, and I'm so fed up that I haven't had any either, despite being on the go all day.

I know we all have days like this, but with everything else, I'm having one of those days where I'm just sick to the back teeth of swimming against the tide all the time, you know?

No offence will be taken if this post has to be deleted - I just needed to write it down and get it off my chest.
